Default Day 35 - I did an experiment...

Tonight I was a bit late getting started with my work out so I did activate. At the end I still had a fair bit in the tank and I could see the treadmill staring at me (that's right, we are that couple with a very expensive fitness ornament in the corner) as I was finishing up so I hopped on. I got to my old *fast walking* speed, but I was doing it too easily, so I upped it, and upped it some more until......

    I. WAS. JOGGING!!!!

OMG, I was jogging. To put you in the picture, I came last in every race at school except one (against a girl who has a serious genetic disorder....not sure it is fair to count that one). Even when I was a normal size, I couldn't run. I was the last picked for sport teams in that cruel school activity of 2 students picking their team mates one by one. Not a nice experience for me. I remember in PE having to still keep running the 400m after the bell had rung. But, because of all of the work that I have been doing at Zumba, getting my heartrate up, I JOGGED.

I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED I JOGGED and I feel good. Maybe that distant goal I had of doing the Bridge to Brisbane isn't so distant afterall.

but, before we get too carried away, it wasn't far, maybe the equivalent of one lap around a running track. There is a fair bit of Zumba to be done before I am fit enough for the B2B.

That is a fantastic improvement!!!!!! It's such a simple thing and yet so significant at the same time. You are a girl who could not jog five weeks ago, I think the Bridge to Brisbane is closer than you think!

I may have been a bit ambitious last night with my running. I felt quite off afterward and line my heartrate didn't come good again so I went and got checked out. I was fine but they said that my electrolytes may have been a bit low which can make you feel unwell. She also suggested.I get my thyroid function checked.and in future rest between zumba and the treadmill. Oops.

Lesson learnt, I guess! Maybe keep a bottle of Powerade or Gatorade on hand for after workouts in future?

Yep, I've got some electrolyte stuff here, I just didn't think of it. I'm a bit p!ssed off though, I thought I had done so well and it really knocked my confidence, but I am keen to keep building on my fitness.

After drinking a 600ml pump today (as well as other water, but I drank this fairly quickly) and feeling much better afterward I think I was dehydrated (which the Dr did say last night). The nurse at the hospital had a hard time finding a vein to take blood. Silly girl. But I can control hydration which makes me feel much better, rather than the feeling last night that my heartrate was a bit screwy which was quite scary. The hospital said my heart, pulse, BP and bloods were all good.

Dehydration does make sense! I'm glad to hear you're feeling better today!
