Default Steel frame vs timber home

We have chosen our home design and placed our block of land on hold until our finance goes through.

Now we are torn between two builders one users steel and one users timber.

I was hoping for some experiences etc thank you

Default Steel frame vs timber home

We built our place with a steel frame and never looked back.. We live next door to bush though so it was kind of a no brainer to go steel over timber because of termites and stuff.. Next door has a timber frame so I guess time will tell which one lasts.. Never had any problems with our frame

I would get steel. We are bush side so termites and fires are the biggest concerns and a steel frame is how we'd go.

The timber frame would be made from treated pine so it's fine with termites.

Steel, the termites up here will eat through treated timber! Just have to look at our old shed, and coppers logs! Lol

You can't add power points later with a steel frame if you want to. So my sparky bil said. Dunno maybe with conduet on outside of wall maybe?

Steel frame has holes throughout the steel to be able to add cabling - it's not "solid" like timber...

We have chosen steel frame! But gone for a smaller house to be able to afford it I'm glad we have gone with this decision as the other builder didnt include over head cupboards, concrete in alfresco etc so it probably isn't more expensive in the long run
