    Default Exhilarate x2 - Week 5, Day 5 - Blog 53

So I just finished up a back to back session of Exhilarate. First let me back up and tell you about this morning. We got up at sparrow's fart, had breakfast and headed to the race. My bike had two pumped up tyres when we left home. We stupidly did not take a bike pump or spare tube and just as we were about to start I noticed that my front tyre was flat. We went to the information tent where they pumped up my tyre for me and the girl who was grumpy had a go at us about not being prepared. In hindsight we should've gone back to the riders and offered money for a spare tube but we didn't think of that till later.

Anyway, I decided to give it a go because I really wanted to ride. I was hoping I could just make it to the drinks tents and pump up there. No dice. 5kms in my tyre was flat again so DH rode his bike back to the car, came and picked me up. I will sadly be marked as DNF (Did Not Finish) on the timing for the race but you know what, I'd prefer that to DNS (Did Not Start)!!!

I will say, though, I was devastated because I was really excited to give it a go and try and break my previous time. I won't deny, there was a part of me that wanted to call the day a bust and go have some take-away. What was interesting is that it was just a notion at the back of my head. Before this challenge I would've said it out loud in the hopes that my husband would agree and we'd get crap. If he was being "good", he'd say it was a bad idea but I would always hope he would agree once the idea was out there. This time when it occurred to me, I had no inclination to actually voice it because I didn't want to put the idea in his head!

Anyway, we came home, I had a healthy lunch and then did some stuff around the house before I went to the shops to get some wrapping paper and a card because it's my husband's 30th birthday today! He had been sleeping on the couch all afternoon but I woke him up to give him his present (a Steinhart watch he bought for himself months ago and said it was for his birthday so I hid it from him till today!) and, of course, I wanted to do my Zumba!

Since I'd only ridden 5kms and we're going out to dinner tonight, I decided to do a double Exhilarate session. I was a bit wary to begin with but I loved it so, so much! In fact, if we hadn't been going out tonight I think I seriously might've considered going for a third round!

I did the first go on Learn It and burnt 597 calories, I did the second go on Feel It and burnt 577 calories. I'm sorry Learn It ladies but as much as I love, love, love Beto and his instruction, I think I've become a Feel It convert. I'm going to try it again when I'm "fresh" because I think I would never have burnt as many calories on the second run through as the first.

One final piece of amazing and exciting news, I weighed myself today and I weigh 79.9kgs!!!! This officially means I've cracked the 70s!!!! *does a jig*

Yup! I literally finished the cool down and when it went to the main menu, I started again on Feel It mode!

Well done on your workout. Makes me jealous that I don't have enough time for a double-session. Some days I can only just squeeze in Rush, let alone 2 hours of Exhilarate
Shame about the bike race, but just imagine what you will be able to do next year!

Yeah, we've decided to train from now and hopefully, maybe do the 106km ride next year!
