    Default Metformin for PCOS?

Ive been on Metformin for a couple of weeks now. I started on 500mg a day and now Im onto 1000mg. Im just wondering if anyone has gotten a BFP after beginning Metformin? My Dr said the next step is clomid but I cant start that until Ive seen a Gyno and Im on a waiting list to see one. Id like to avoid clomid if I can. One of the girls I know said she got pregnant twice, both times after only a couple of months of being on Metformin. Has this happened to anyone else?

    Default Metformin for PCOS?

I was on metformin but never got a BFP, metformin only helped me lose weight. I did however get my BFP on my first cycle of Clomid.

Good luck with your journey xx

    Default Metformin for PCOS?

    It did happen to me.
I ended up on 2g per day (slow release) and it kick started my cycles somewhat. I still wasn't ovulating every cycle or having normal 28 day cycles, but it was better than 60 or 14 days, more around 35-40.
I started taking my temps to make sure we were DTD at the right time, and after a few months (maybe 3-6?) on the metformin I asked my GP for the next step and she gave me a referral for a fertility specialist. The next available appt with the FS was in 3 months time and on that date I ended up having a 12 week scan instead

    All the best!!

Thanks ladies. Im on the slow release one, I started it halfway through my cycle and ended up with a 34 day cycle. Usually it can be anywhere from 23 - 62 days. I havent lost any weight yet though. Im also on Duromine to help me lose some weight so we arent allowed to TTC for another month. Im hoping that the metformin will help my cycles so that we can get a BFP within the next couple of months. Thanks for the replies girls!

Me either! I'm glad that I now know what's going on but upset all the same. Plus we'd decided that if we weren't preg by the end of the year then we'd stop ttc as I'll be nearly 40. So now I feel like I'm going to run out of time!

My doctor upped my dose to 2000mg a day, the highest dose you can have. Still not pregnant and still TTC. I haven't taken my metformin in about a week though, my Nanna passed away last Wednesday and its been full on with family and planning her funeral and the wake and trying to organise moving house all at the same time. Very overwhelmed

Hi, just thought I'd post, I've been on Metformin for about 6 months. I haven't lost any weight because of it & I'm currently taking FSH injections to stimulate ovulation due to my PCOS. Fro
