    Default Smart casual dress code

Hi was wondering if anyone can tell me what this dress code means?

    Default Smart casual dress code

I take it as something you would wear to a nice restaurant.

    Default Smart casual dress code

No thongs, t-shirts, singlets or board shorts. A nice dress or skirt and top for ladies. Nice shirt and pants/dress shorts for a guy.

I attended a wedding recently with this dress code. One male guest was wearing thongs, stubbies and an everlast singlet top.

He seemed to have forgotten the 'smart' bit

OMG, I think I would have sent him packing. Even my roughest, *bushie* relatives would never do that.

    Default Smart casual dress code

My BIL wore thongs and boardies to our wedding... Granted we only verbally said smart casual but seriously!! Even my 4yo Godson had pants and a button down shirt lol.

Smart casual, IMO, is something you'd be allowed to wear on a first date if you were meeting at a cafe or something. Nothing OTT or dressy, but if it's a first date, you'd probably still want to look decent.

I reckon, to be safe, it means:

For females, a nice dress, or skirt and top, or pants and top.
For males, a collared shirt (long or short sleeves eg polo) and long pants (no jeans or shorts, but you could wear beige long pants, for example).

No neck tie required for males. No thongs.
