Default What is the smallest dog that you can get in Australia ....

SpecialPatrolGroup: Oscar's sister, Charlie, lives in FNQ. In Townsville. Her owners were living in Melbourne but moved up there because one of them is in the military.

She's fine. I'm pretty sure Oscar would be fine anywhere as well as we keep him fit and healthy. Those that show English Bulldogs tend to keep them overweight because the breed standard says they look better that way and the fatties tend to do well in dog shows. This is a massive factor in how well they tolerate the heat.

Barney on the other hand would probably struggle heaps in the heat so it would all be about choosing a healthy pup and taking a good look at both parents. Also, breeders in QLD would have dogs that are used to the climate so you should be okay.

Thanks for that. I will be a while before we look at getting one. Not while we still have our boy that we have now. DH might take some convincing....but true love conquers all.

Keeping them a healthy weight makes sense to keep breathing issues at bay. Thanks, you've given me hope.

I soooo badly wanted one of those! Knew I had to import one s went with a Chihuahua instead.

Here are the two of them several months back.
Your dogs are gorgeous!!! We looked at getting a bulldog....one day maybe, one day

I agree with others that a Chihuahua is the way to go. I have one so let me warn you and say something to everyone else.....................people, if you think that yapping dog is annoying, trust me when I say that the owner of that yapping dog is just as annoyed as you are Lol My Chihuahua yaps at everything..OMG A FLY!! YAP YAP YAP!....A SHADOW!! YAP YAP YAP. So frustrating but I love him. We affectionately refer to him as 'rat dog' because, yeah he looks like a rat with a collar.

Here is my rat dog, not long after we got him, with DPs mastiff X...

And here they are now, 3yrs later...

There is just the one breeder in Australia. Southern cross Klee Kai. We were in a waiting list for 18 months. They have been amazing to deal with, she will be the only one in Perth that's registered apparently!! So excited!!!

ETA: she has cost us more than a months mortgage payments! So u need to consider that in your desire! Eep!
