Same for me, I had to have a referral with all 3 of my pregnancies.

My hospital takes bookings from 10 weeks, unless you have a GP referral saying you need to be seen sooner for some reason.

I had my first midwife appointment at 12 weeks.

I went public and needed a referral from a gp. I saw my gp at 6 weeks and she sent the referral to the hospital which called me a few weeks later with an appointment for when I was 14 weeks. (My hospital wont see you until 14 weeks for a straight forward pregnancy )

Default When should I book in?

I went public and didn't need a referral to book in, that was with 3 hospitals.
I didn't book in until after my morph scan both times.

Default When should I book in?

At 4 weeks when I went to see my doctor to confirm pregnancy.

My GP sent all the paperwork off that day. I did need a referral.
    Good luck.
