Default 3 different egg collections = all empty follicles

    Hi everyone,
I am a new member and this being my first post. However my husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 3 years now.
I have had 4 ivf attempts. I am a poor responder.
my first ivf attempt was cancelled due to only a few follicles.
my second attempt i only had 7 follicles , when when i went into egg collection they said all follicles were empty. we were devastated.
my third attempt was the same, went in for egg collection - follicles again were all empty.
my fourth attempt and 3rd egg collection - the same, this time i had about 10 follicles but ALL EMPTY once again.
This time the doctor had changed the protocol, put me on a different trigger, i took the synarel nasal spray instead of the ovidrial, but it didnt help.

Has anybody ever experienced empty follicles, especially more than once? I guess im a really rare case, not even my doctor knows what to do next.

    Any advise/help is appreciated.

Hi destiny I'm so sorry you have had to go through do many cycles. Have you thought about seeing a different FS? That is really all I could suggest I hope there is an answer out there for you

Hi destiny, I am also a poor responder but my fs is great. He does not put me on syneral as it stops your ovaries working...his comment 'why do that when yours don't work that great anyway'. I go with a fast cycle called antagonist which I have had great results with. Im currently 9.5 weeks pregnant from last cycle. Have a google and see what it says. Good luck

Firstly, you must be one strong and stubborn lady to keep trying- which is good because eventually you will get your dream.
I had a similar thing happen on my second cycle. everything looked great with 8 follicles, there were only 4 eggs (but only one was viable as the others were immature or abnormal).
This last cycle my FS changed the protocol to add pregnyl and human growth hormone as well as FSH. 7 follicles, 8 eggs (don't where that one hid), 8 fertilised, 8 day 3 embies then final result 6 day 5 blasties. DET (chem preg), 4 frosties left.
So a BIG difference on the new drugs.

Might be worth asking about a new protocol- I had resigned myself to looking for an egg donor when we gave it one last cycle. If you are considering a donor PM for some ideas.

    xoxoxo
Hope things change for the better soon.

Well I have no advice (but you have some great advice above) just wanted to say I hope something changes soon and best of luck with it all... Ivf is cruel enough without even being able to have a shot at a result.
    Big hugs
    xx

Thanks for all your kind words everybody.
I believe i will get my dream one day. I am 31.
I think i will do another round of ivf but this time try the pregnyl as i have heard good things about it. Is pregnyl used for the daily injections or just the trigger before egg collection??
Also what did you use for the injections? Purogon etc ?
    thanks

    Hi again!
i used puregon, Synarel and pregnyl duringy down reg and yep pregnyl is added to the daily injections(for me I think it was every 2nd or 3rd day)
i have also used pregnyl with antagonist cycle. I've only done one antagonist so I'm not an expert on it by any means
    good luck!!
maybe a new FS is the way to go? I should imagine after one round of empty follicles there should have been a protocol change?
    Wishing you all the best!!
