No internal battles here, not even sure how the two go together or what point you are trying to make. Are you implying that I can not post anything here that might spark a conversation from people who dont agree because it is only to cause drama? It is actually a topic I wanted to get other peoples views on.

I have seen Hostel and I really liked it. I really want to see the second. I watched the first Saw movie but I found it super boring and predictable.
I do agree, if you don't like it, just don't watch it. I personally don't like sci fi and don't think it should be banned. I personally cant watch war movies because...well they upset me but i still dont thinkthey need to be banned. Child porn and beastiality are illegal
I do, however, think there should be more warnings on movies. The movies with torture scenes need to be very heavily marked. The same with rape scenes

Not good at saying my point of view so hope it makes sense lol
I have seen those and the collector was a great movie too. Of course it was made by the original writers of Saw 1 they are genius. I agree that labels need to be put on movies, just the other day I rented Not suitable for children, seemed good and maybe for the older kids an ok movie about 75% through the film it had such graphic sex scenes I am so glad I watched it first. Maybe the title was a subliminal label lol too many movies have unnecessary nudity or sex scenes so labeling them would be great because sometimes you cant tell until you watch it it happens a lot in comedies.

I agree with Sonja, not banned but they shouldn't be available to teenagers. I think the gore in these movies is excessive, personally. It is lacking imagination. if you want a movie that makes you think, watch Funny Games (the original version).
Saw and the like take a huge imagination IMO I mean the average person wouldnt think up these things, the traps they think up are awesome takes an imagination to come up with this stuff.

Hogwash studies, you cant do a study like these because there may be other factors, did they make sure non of the people have been abused etc. To many things to factor in when it comes to personalities and the effects on them some of the stuff in those studies are being blamed on horror, I am sure there are tons of people on this forum that watch these and know how to have an argument without resorting to violence.

They can see the room and surroundings they are sitting in and then the tv they are watching, if that makes sense?

I don't think they should be banned. Saw was a fantastic movie, the first one that is. Then they got so over the top and b grade, the violence increased to keep up with the level in other movies. I think I we were to go back and watch saw now, it would seem tame in comparison to others.

The one thing il disagree with most on is that a lot of people do have a sexual response to horror. It is the same physiological reaction that takes place when you are scared as aroused. Though I prefer Supernatural horrors and thrillers to gratuitous violence...,but hey! Whatever floats your boat!
I dont think I agree, there is nothing sexual in the movies for me. I dont watch one and say OMG I want to go have sex now. I find this outlook very odd I would never equate these movies with sexual gratification.

This is not a new topic, nor is anyone currently looking at banning any of these film (which were all released many years ago) - I remain deeply suspicious of the motives behind this thread so don't really want to add to it.
Then dont read the thread, stop this nonsense, no one here is offending or arguing your the only one having a "problem" with the thread. Please point me to where we can only discuss things that are happening right this second. The US is always discussing banning movies or relabeling them. Stop nit picking and let us discuss this very interesting topic. If you dont like it dont come back simple.

LMF, you miss my point. I am not saying the actual movie leads to sexual gratification. Simply that the bodies response to fear (felt in a safe environment, not genuine fear) is similar to arousal. Increase blood flow, heart rate etc. the same response as a roller coaster or skydiving. I am not in anyway saying these movies are designed to get people off....

Ah I see sorry I misunderstood. But then should they really be labeled porn because of that? We certainly wouldn't label everything that gives us that physical response with porn on the end could you imagine telling your kids they are going to disneyland porn

I find it interesting that people who find watching 2 people have s.ex as gross have no issue watching a bunch of teenagers be brutally murdered.

I think people that have issues with porn its not the two people having sex its much more than that, also there is a difference between real life and imaginary movies.

Agree. I'd prefer sex over violence personally!
