I don't find these sorts of movies entertaining. I don't pretend to understand the appeal. You can say all you like about the intricate plots and story lines, at the end of the day they are made to showcase gratuitous violence and to induce fear and disgust. To go back to the original question, should they be labeled torture porn? By definition, that is what they are (keeping in mind that porn doesn't necessarily mean s3xual porn). It's just a label, after all, and it won't restrict your viewing them if you want to.
People slow down at an accident out of concern for another human being.
There actually are people in the world suffering torture and mutilation, it's sad that people in our society like watching it for fun
Or what about comedies with sex scenes that are more explicit than just two people under covers? Comedy Porn?
Where do we stop labeling with the porn at the end?
I don't understand watching someone being tortured as entertainment. As CTM said, people in this world are actually suffering under brutal regimes that happily torture, humiliate, deprave etc (eg Taliban, Iran). I don't find watching someone hacking themselves or someone else to death a pleasant past time and I don't understand those that do.
