    Default First Doc Appt.

I have my first appointment in an hour and I'm super nervous!
I just wanted to say this haha

I hope I can get into a scan within the next two weeks so I can see the heartbeat and bub I'm about 5wks now though so hope I can actually see a heartbeat. Ill have to travel for the first few appointments because I will be moving to where Im staying atm after my lease runs out in a few months in another town so that makes me more nervous. AHH NERVES

Normally no scans are done until 12 weeks and unless your baby is in some sort of danger they don't just let you listen to the heartbeat and at 5 weeks it's unlikely to have a heartbeat yet. Hold your horses and wait it out. As exiting as it all is, you need to wait for the right time for these things.

    Default Re: First Doc Appt.

Depends greatly on the Dr. Mine won't allow me a blood test for hcg levels but offered me a scan at 7 weeks and I didn't even have to ask.

I certainly would be requesting a scan between 6-8 weeks regardless of money. I refuse to wait double the time to find out something is very wrong or missed mc (no heart beat). I would be more traumatized knowing I carried a dead baby for weeks on end, spreading the news.. Thinking I'm home and housed at 11-12 weeks then bang. No sorry. Bub stopped growing weeks ago.

Personally. I'm waiting until 7.5 weeks purely from my work roster and I'm currently overseas so an early scan was not appropriate. I also have no drama with my dates. I know when this baby was conceived down to the exact deed lol.

    Good luck.

Firstly, congratulations!! Secondly, I love the first scan! My ob always has a dating scan around 8 weeks so really does depend on your doctor as to what happens.

Also, I technically saw and heard my sons heartbeat! They showed the rhythm of his heart on a graph while I was listening ha ha. So it is kinda possible to do both. :-P.

    Good luck!
