Not everyone works face to face with customers.

    Default Short skirts?

I don't have particularly nice thighs, so it wouldn't be something I'd wear to work, but if there's no policy about skirt length, I don't think it's necessarily unprofessional. It really depends how it's worn. I've seen women wear shorts of a similar length (tailored shorts) and they look great, not tarty.
I just got of the ruler and perhaps was a little conservative in my estimation. Probably closer to 18cm but who knows.

I can see how some short items would be more tasteful than other items of the same length.

Surely thats at the discretion of the employer and employee though.

If the employer has no rule around it and isn't concerned and the employee chooses to wear a skirt 15cm above their knee (thatceoyld hit mid-thigh for me) then it's no one else's affair.

Id rather work with a competent employee in a shirt skirt than a lazy idiot in a pants suit any day.

This strikes me as the kind of thing that women ***** about each other for in the office tea room.

I wear knee length which I think looks professional. But I guess people are free to wear what they want if it doesn't break company policy.

Knee length is professional, 15cm above knee sounds too short and it's inappropriate in a work environment, customer facing or not, in my opinion.

Many years ago I lived in the red light district of a large city in the UK. I was walking home from the bus stop one day wearing a gorgeous charcoal grey bespoke suit. The skirt was just below my knees, collared shirt, jacket, stocking and court shoes. My hair was neat and I had minimal make up. A car pulled over and asked me how much, he thought I was a "lady of the night". Yup, I could not have looked any more professional and he thought I was a hooker. It was not like it was late at night, it was about 6pm, still daylight.

One person's "hooker" is another person's "fabulous".

It's also kind of insulting that the you keep intimating that the worst thing possible in the world is to "dress like a hooker". Really?

I refer to the lady at my work as looking like a hooker... Because IMO she looked like a hooker and IMO that is a bad thing for the street let alone a workplace.

Is it possible you just dont like her and if it wasn't the skirt it'd be something else that makes her unpleasant to you?

This is probably more an example of a horny man and you being in the wrong place at the wrong time rather than a case of one persons hooker being another persons fabulous...

I don't know her... Never seen her before and have no idea what area she works in... My reaction was purely based on what she was wearing..I literally stopped in my tracks her skirt was that short (and tight too forgot to add before). Had to force myself to turn away and not stare.
