Default IVF: what dose and how many eggs?

Hi ladies, today i had my first scan for my first IVF cycle. I'm on 112.5 of Gonal F and on the scan there wasn't that much happening. I was just wondering what doses other people are on and what they saw on their first scan (day 6 of injecting) and how many eggs they ended up with? I'm just a bit nervous that ill have very few to collect on EPU day

Hi Little Dove. Congrats on getting to this stage in your cycle. I have only done one cycle so far and was on 375 gonal f for two weeks as it was a short antagonist cycle. From memory my first scan showed about 8 follies. FS put me on 375 straight up due to my age. Has your FS discussed increasing your dose as my understanding is they increase it if you're not responding unless you've experienced OHSS at that dose previously.

Little Dove, best of luck with your cycle.

I have pcos so i started on 112 of gonal too. Unfortunately for me, it just wasn't enough and i ended up with one big follie on both so we cancelled, the triggered me and started again two weeks later. When i went up to 142 i got 12 eggs, 11 mature from which i got 6 embryo's.

Hope those follies all come up, its still early days.

First cycle pretty much a trial as docs will not know how you respond with drugs. Most likely they will up your dosage. I started with 225iu gonal f wo much response and my max dose was 450iu.

high dose doesn't mean better results. There are times one egg one embryo giving you a BFP.i have also seen lots eggs retrieved and bad fertilisation then bfn too.

My max eggs was 11 for 2 cycles but the fert rate was 50-60% which wasn't good and all bfn. For my last cycle I had only 5 eggs with two being immature, but 3 all fertilised and a BFP. I was on lower dose gonal f (think 375) that bfp cycle compared to the two cycles I had on 450 gf.

I am going to be on 112.5 too.. so hoping it's enough! I read someone say that there wasnt much happening with their low dose, so the fertility specialist upped the dose and they were able to collect enough follicles on epu day. Could they up your dose??

My first cycle started off on 150 Gonal F then after 6 or so days they up'ed it to 175 which helped my levels get to where they should have been. Ended up with 4.. 3 mature but bfn..
This cycle we were on 175 straight away and things happened rather quickly.. Had EPU yesterday, they said they was 5 follicles they were looking for but I ended up with 6 eggs. Not sure on maturity / fertilisation yet. Will know in a couple of hours..

So to answer ur question, yes if not much is happening they will or should up ur dose.. Good luck
