Default Fab book for 12 year old girl?

When I was 12 I absolutely loved the 'Tomorrow When The War Began' series by John Marsden.

Set in the Australian bush, it'd be a great one to send overseas!

Favorites of mine around that age were The Velvet Room, Baby Island and the Trixie Beldon books. I have kept mine all this time to pass onto my DD!! Lucky I had one

I was coming back to suggest Tomorrow when the war began.. I read it when I was 12 and loved it.

I think the hunger games would be better for someone older but it definitely depends on the child.

Um - Hunger Games - it would have been appropriate for *me* as a 12 year old, but other kids maybe wait another year or two.

If she reads a lot, then it may be ok for her - but what are her parents like? It's a bit violent so just be aware that some parents might feel uncomfortable with their 12 year olds reading it.

It's a great series, but I think the Tomorrow series is a bit more appropriate for her age - a good stepping stone to The Hunger Games really

Also re. Hunger Games- if she's mature enough to have read it, it's 99% likely that she already has.
