Default Do you give your kids clothes for Christmas?

Sadly no, DD has it in her head that Santa gives clothes to children who haven't been behaving themselves. Not sure if she has misheard "coal" as "clothes" or if she agrees with those of you who think it is an essential and not fun. This has carried over into birthdays and she gets upset if anyone gives her clothes.

I used to get some clothing items for Christmas (among other things) and I really liked having new things to wear. Then again, we never got new clothes much the rest of the year so maybe that's why.

I do. They are stocking fillers here. Both DS1 and DD3 have asked for clothes this year for their birthday too.

It depends on the kid though. My niece LOVES getting clothes. In fact one year her grandmother took her to the shops and said you have $50 to spend on ANYTHING. She chose an outfit. I now don't buy her toys, just clothes as that's what she's into.. but I agree.. unless the child is really into it then it shouldn't be a Christmas gift.

Certain character clothing make my children happy (as much as i hate character clothes) so for christmas they get a few shirts with their favorite characters on them, i wouldnt get them like plain drill shorts tho.

I give the girls a pack of character knickers & character socks in their christmas stockings each year.

Bulks it up and they love them cause their regular knickers are plain or lightly patterned

I'm kinda offended at people saying it's lame and by giving our kids some nice outfits we are somehow taking away the joy of Christmas. We don't have a lot of money and I don't see the problem in buying a beautiful dress or some nice summer clothing as a gift. Yes clothing is necessary but heaps of toys are not. We buy our kids some special toys which they love and clothing on pjs are part of their presents. I hope they grow up to appreciate gifts they are given no matter what they are.

I give some clothes that I know DS will love (i.e.: because they have a dinosaur on the front), along with other gifts. I tend not to give things they 'need' as presents though.

Clothes aren't always an undesirable item for kids.

I wore a Little Mermaid nightie to tatters when I was as kid. I got it for Christmas, and I wore it until it was really thin, and stretched and almost revealing my knickers. I just adored it. My parents couldn't usually afford the liscensed stuff, so it was a treat.

I was about 4/5 when I got it.

Not everyday type clothes, but DD loves dresses and tutus so she will usually get one really nice one for Christmas or her birthday. Last Christmas we bought her a lovely Tutu de Monde tutu and will probably do the same this year. Although I drove past a nice shop the other day with a sweet dress in the window I need to go back and check out before I buy anything.
