This is actually a really good idea. I was married once before and didn't get rid of my wedding rings because they had been redeisgned from my grandmothers rings (who passed away just before I married ex) and I didn't get rid of the engagement ring because the most I could get for it was $100. I kid you not. We paid 2000 for it. So I melted that along with the wedding rings and had the ones I've got now. Well worth it and it doesn't feel weird at all (Would have felt weird if I'd kept them in the original condition though).

I would get him to sell the ring and buy something within your price range. No way in high heaven i would wear another woman's engagement ring and I know you aren't financial but I would choose a CZ cheap $50 ring over that! Just speaking for me but even a remodelled ring would give me the creeps.

Default Re: Ex fiancees engagement ring.

I have the ex's ring. It isn't my engagement ring. I wear it, doesn't feel weird. But it wasn't given as an engagement ring and I didn't know it was for someone else until I had been wearing it for a while.

That's pretty much how I feel about it.

I was engaged before and I have the ring and no way in hell would I want that to be my engagement ring with DP now...and no way in hell I would want exDF to use that ring for another woman. Yuck....no, I would not wear another womans engagement ring. I wouldnt even want it redesigned....Id want it gone. Sell it and use the money to get one for YOU.

    Default Ex fiancees engagement ring.

Take it back to the original jeweler and see what they offer for it. If its their ring and their valuation, you might get more for it.

I wouldn't want to wear it either.

    Default Ex fiancees engagement ring.

I'd sell it, get a nice $500 ring and use the rest for a holiday as a pp suggested. If you cant get much money for it, I don't know if they all do it but the Michael hill jewellers near me offer certegy ezi pay which is like a take home lay by over 12 months. We did it for my wedding set.
