Default GBS Swab.... How to?? Haha. Help!

    Hey ladies,
I have to do the GBS swab tomorrow but i forgot what I'm supposed to do. You would think I would remember after 2 other pregnancies, but how do I do it correctly?

    Help!

Insert the swab inside your vagina, roughly 2-3 cm and 'swab' the inside of your vagina. Remove the cap from the swab cover and insert swab. If you're still unsure just go into your local pathology place and ask, they'll be happy to tell you.

I did mine last week. You have to do what pp said, insert into your vagina then using the same swab insert into your anus. Don't stress pathology will tell you what to do and also give you instructions.

    Good luck.

Before you do I would actually recommend you NOT doing it. I wished I hadnt of done it with DD as I was trying for a VBAC2 and because my GBS came up positive this time I wasnt able to labour at home so had to stay in hospy and have a canula inserted so they could administer antibiotics.

The hospy were surprised my OB wanted to me have a swab as they said its something the are phasing out they now just monitor bubs for any infections after a VB.

I totally believe that because I couldnt labour at home and was stuck in a hospital I wasnt able to achieve my VBAC2.

If you know all about it and find that having the swab is best for you then apologies for intruding! Just something I wished I have of researched.

    I'm guessing I won't need to do the swab with a c-section?!

Can't say I've ever done a swab like that before?? That is... Vagina then anus?? I've only ever done a vaginal one.

I guess every hospital is different.

I was going to take a photo of the instructions for OP but didn't think the pictures would be allowed.

I had to insert swab 2cm into vagina then insert same swab 1cm into anus.

Have had to do this for both of my pregnancies.
