    Default Diagnosed Yesterday :(

    Hello,

I am feeling quite down in the dumps today as yesterday I was diagnosed with PCO (not PCOS) still trying to figure out the difference but everything online is about PCOS.... so not sure.

I came off BC in July after being on it for 4years, I went on it for BC and because of heavy flow. First AF in late October and am now wanting to TTC so hearing the news was daunting as he said i would need "help". I am a size 10 and BMI 22 so not carrying excess weight. I had my thyroid, hormones, glucose levels all done in July and everything was ok. My only sign of PCO was heavy and semi irregular AF.

I had the scan yesterday as I went to my GP early October to express my concern about no AF in 3 months... then 2 days later AF showed up but my GP had given me a referral for the scan anyway so I went ahead with it.

I now don't know the best plan of attack... what do I do know? I am waiting for my GP to open so I can make an appointment to see her. I have also made an appointment with a new OBGYN on 28 Nov as my Gyno is not an OB and I couldn't get into see him until late Dec. I can't wait that long!!!!

Please help me! Any advice? What do I do? I have read about provera to stimulate AF then start taking clomid. Who prescribes clomid? my GP or OBGYN?

Thank you in advance for your help... i am so thankful for this forum to keep me sane and reading about other peoples success gives me hope!

    Your OBGYN will proscribe clomid.

You need to find out if you are ovulating at all first.

Vitex Caste is a natural version of clomid. I tired it but it didn't work for me.

Stay positive and speak to your specialist.

    Default Diagnosed Yesterday :(

JB I was diagnosed in feb after no AF for 2 months. I walked into my GP and said I wanted blood tests and an ultrasound of my ovaries. She agreed. The bloods were good but U/S showed the "cysts".
She referred me to an obstetrician and he put me on femara, which is similar to clomid. It's working wonders in helping me ovulate.
I think it's only PCOS if you have other symptoms like not ovulating, etc.

I was also diagnosed with PCO - not the S. As I understand it, you only get the S if you have multiple symptoms.
I was similar to you, size 10, healthy, fit, good BMI, all tests were fine, except for scan which showed the PCO. I stopped the pill and my period didn't return after a few months so I went and saw the doc.
I was then referred to a gyno/obs who referred me to a fertility specialist. I started on clomid which seemed to work, but after 6 rounds of that didn't fall pregnant - also through the process we discovered I had a short luteal phase so needed injections to help that. I moved from clomid to HCG injections and had everything flushed out (I can't remember the correct name for it now!) and fell pregnant on the second cycle of HCG injections.

Don't feel too bad, at least they know what the problem is and you can now go about treating it. Hoping you have some happy news to share soon.

Hey Albert, you sound a little like me... I am a size 8, all test fine expect for the fact that I have cysts! Had them all cut off though... and now on 4th round of Clomid. If this doesnt work, I think I will go see a FS... I dont know anything about HCG injections... can you fill me in a bit??? You have given me hope...
