Default Anyone starting IVF cycle in November/December 2012?

I am brand new to BubHub, but thought I should do all the things I didn't do during my first unsuccessful cycle, and that includes contributing to this forum, instead of just trawling through everyone elses' posts.

I'm not too good on all the lingo but here goes...

I am 32 years old and have been TTC for 2.5 years. I had a laparoscopy in June 2011, endo removed, polycystic ovaries, but with regular cycles, and cervical stenosis. DH has some morphology issues but a high count.

I am starting IVF round #2 this month with Monash IVF in Melbourne. This time we're doing the long down regulation cyle. Tomorrow I start the Synarel spray.

My first cycle in May 2012 was unsuccessful. We did an antagonist cycle, half ICSI, half normal. We got 7 eggs, 6 fertilised, one transferred on day 5 and none made it to freezing. AF arrived before end of 2WW... BFN. Not knowing anyone else who has been through this made it even harder and also left us with unrealistic expectations for success, or at least for some embryos to freeze, so we were both shattered with this result.

Since that cycle we tried 5 months of a naturopath which cost a fortune and did absolutely nothing.

Let me know if anyone else is on the same timeline. Would be good to share the experience with someone as none of my friends have had any issues falling pregnant, lucky them!

    Hi hposs

We are on the long down reg cycle at the moment. Currently in my 6th week of taking synarel spray and we have an approximate FET date of the 1st of December. Our cycle and meds are very different this time after an endo biopsy showed high NK cells, we are on the Bondi Protocol. We are having two put back this time which will leave us with one frostie.

I am with Dr Lisa Bedson at Repromed in Adelaide. This is our 4th attempt. None of my friends have had any difficulties getting pregnant either. That's why it is good to be able to share...and sometimes vent on Bubhub with people that are going through similar issues.

and lots of to both of us for this cycle.

Hi 1Wish. Lots of babydust to you too. After 4 cycles I'm sure you've well and truly had enough.

I am nervous excited at the moment but I'm sure that will be short lived once the drugs start. Global f is supposed to start on 25th November so assuming all goes to plan I'll find out if we've had success by 22nd December. Could be the best or the worst Christmas!

    Fingers crossed for you!!

Hi hposs and 1wish, I too have been taking it all in on this forum for sometime now, through many unsuccessful cycles this year.

We are very fortunate to have a beautiful little 3 year old daughter, who was a fighter (and still is!) of our first ever attempt at IVF/ ICSI. We are truly grateful for all the IVF technology out there these days to help us create our little family.

We have been TTC a sibling for our daughter since April this year, through 3 unsuccessful cycles so far. My hubby has a condition which has destroyed most of his sperm, so for us the only option is ICSI, using sperm which had been collected in the early stages of my hubby's condition when he was really sick but not on any damaging medications. He has been on medications for many years now which advise "do not father a child whilst taking this medication"

We completed a down reg (long cycle) last month (which was unsuccessful) and seen our fertility specialist today who has advised that we can go ahead with a FET this month. I don't hold much hope as the embryologists have advised that our little frostie "is not good quality" and I am going straight into this cycle without a break so my body may not be in it's best form, but we have nothing to lose so thought we'd give it a go. I have a BT tomorrow to find out where I'm up to in my cycle and when (if?) the FET will likely take place (it's all been a bit of a last minute rush this time to get in before chrissy).

I have been a emotionally crazy person for the last 6 months or so whilst going through all this. Thank goodness my hubby is very level headed and keeps me "balanced", I find that I get super hyper excited for the good things and absolutely totally devestated with the not so good news...... it's so hard to keep a balanced view, especially when everyone around me seems to be having babies and getting pregnant so easily. I'm sure you both understand having been through the process yourselves...

Until recently I too did not know anyone else who had been or is going through IVF. No one can understand what it's like unless they've been there themselves, so I hope to be able to keep in touch with you both and others on this forum to share the experience, good and bad times.

Anyway best of luck with your current cycles , would love to hear how everything goes.

Hi guys, would love to join you. This will be my 2nd attempt. Did short antagonist cycle in October. AF arrived before BT. I'm with Melb IVF and they do 2 day transfers. We've got 5 frosties but they are all 2 days old and the best of them was transferred last time. We are going to put 2 back this time and will probably change clinics if unsuccessful. I am doing a natural FET. AF due this weekend and I suppose ET 2 weeks after that so end of Nov and BT mid Dec. all very quick!

Hposs - good on you for joining and starting a thread, you'll find the cycle just that bit easier with support from BH friends. Makes me wonder how our hubbies keep their heads screwed on straight with limited support. Mine tries to stay positive to support me but I know it's just as difficult for him. He always wants to know what's happening on BH.

Iwish - you and I will be on similar timelines for a FET.

Tessagirl - stay positive. You so often here of little embies that don't look great being the sticky ones.

Anyone doing anything else to help this cycle? Different diet, alternative medicine?

Welcome Kheeki and Tessagirl! It's exciting for me to make contact with others who are going through this at the same time. I already feel more positive about the whole process.

Since the last failed cycle I have started trying to get fit, got myself a personal trainer and trying to do some form of exercise every second day. I was taking a nasty herbal concoction from the naturopath (that I payed hundreds of dollars for on the advice that it would give me a 9/10 chance of falling pregnant naturally within 4 months - which needless to say did not happen) but I am sceptical about its benefits so have shelved it for now. I am otherwise taking Blackmores Pre-conception Gold and CoQ10.

I am generally trying to eat lots of fresh healthy food and have cut out alcohol and don't drink coffee anyway. Also lots of herbal tea. The exercise has definitely made the biggest difference though.

and for all of us. Lots of different stories, let's hope we have some happy news to end 2012 with!

Hi guys, just wondering how everyone is going? Anyone else just started or about to?

AFM - just waiting for AF to arrive before I can start my natural FET. Time seems to be going particularly slow at the moment!

Hi girls. I have a BT this Friday to determine if I can start the injections on Sunday. If I'm not down regulated by the 29th my cycle will have to be cancelled due to Christmas so fingers crossed all is ok! Have been taking Synarel for almost a week now and I actually don't mind it, I was dreading it after some of the reports I've read on here. Have been a little emotional but otherwise fine.

Kheeki - I know what you mean about time going slowly. Each day is moving at a crawling pace...

Hi there, I'd love to join this thread. I started IVF last week and am currently on day 7 of injecting. This is my First IVF/Icsi cycle, antagonist but also doing pre-implantation genetics testing too. Currently I have EPU scheduled for this coming Monday. I really wish everyone the very best of luck

Hposs - fingers crossed for you for Friday. I'm sure you'll be good to start jabbing.

LittleDove - welcome! Are you having another scan before EPU? I know you were worried about folly numbers. Damn doctors just think we're all made of money!

AFM - still waiting...might POAS because as soon as I do AF will arrive! Then I can start
