Default Why is it so damn hard.....

    To find a job ??

Long story short, I was on forced annual leave from mid August to mid September, then they decided to make me redundant when I was due to return after the annual leave. So I have been out of work for 3 months.

Since then, every day I get the paper, go online, and apply for HEAPS of jobs.
I have enrolled with a few agencies too but so far, diddly squat.

In our local Westfields, most of the stores are advertising for casual/part time staff. I go in, approach the store manager, and usually end up with "oh you're too old, we want juniors" (I'm 35), or "wow you're way too experienced for this".

Ok, so my background is accounts/admin and did hospitality for a long time before that.
I really don't care if I don't get anything from my background, I just need something!

Sorry for my vent, but I am really frustrated and getting bitter as being jobless is not my fault

It's hard, most of the time it's a matter of who you know, not what you know.

Make sure all your friends and family know you're looking

    I hear you!

I was unemployed for 3 months before I got my current job and I literally applied for 350 jobs in those 3 months! That's 4 jobs per day! Out of that I scored 3 interviews and obviously, 1 job offer. To only get 3 interviews out of 350 applications is completely unfair but keep persisting. I was also looking in the admin field and you would think it wouldn't take so long as I had over 15 years of experience in the field but alas, it was a struggle BUT I got there eventually.

You'll get your job! The perfect job opportunity is just waiting for you

Have you tried a local supermarket? They're pretty easy to get into usually as long as you can do school hours. As in Coles, Woolies or ALDI or I guess even one of the smaller ones.

If the jobs you are applying for say you are too experienced could you 'dumb down' your resume somehow?

I have gone to all the supermarkets, Coles, Woolies, Aldi, IGA, Franklins.
They want you to be available 24/7, and if you're not, then you go on a waiting list as such. So my apps are in, now just waiting.

And it is school hours that I am predominately after.

I'm registered with 2. But I'm starting to think they're not much chop.

    Might google for another one.
