Default Are digital pregnancy tests better than more traditional tests?

As some of you may know, I am currently TTC and have always used FRERs but all this squint in the right light to find a line is killing me!!!

I would like to know the for & against for pregnancy tests on the market today and whether digital is better/more accurate and why?

    TIA

    Hi Chillies,

From what I have heard and experienced the digitals are great in that they will give you a definite answer with no squinting and line spotting.

In saying that though, they aren't as sensitive as FRER and other early detection tests. I had a faint but definite visible line on my FRER before I got a positive on a digital, so if you are looking to use them I would wait a little longer in your cycle than what you usually would. Also never pull a digital apart (not saying you would), they will always have lines on them and can give false hope, even if they are negative.

Good luck! Lots of baby dust your way!

FRER's all the way! I've taken many many tests, and they are the only ones I really trust.

i think FRER are the best for early pregnancy tests. The digitals don't pick up hcg till its at about 25-50 so you'd have to wait a day or two extra for the digital to give you a BFP.

Okay here are three BFPs at the same time. Internet cheapie vs FRER vs CB Digi

I tested two days earlier and nothing.

Thanks Toon!! I can't believe how faint the lines r-only coz there is such a belief that it should be so dark by then :/

No worries petal, everyone's body is a little different especially in early pregnancy. I was fertility charting so I know exactly when I conceived and I had implantation dip in BBT 5 DPO. Yet even implanting a bit earlier than average my line was so faint on the day AF was due! It's nice and dark now!

Some women get BFPs much earlier and some take longer. Also you can hardly even see a line on the cheapie test Idid lol. I thought it might be evaporative line which is why I used the FRER straight after. Then the digital

Also the tests were taken after a double shift so not first morning urine so that probably made them a bit more faint as well!

Yes I think they are better BUT only after a certain point. I was getting positives on my IC and only got a faint hairline on my FERE when I got "pregnant" on my CB digi.

I do think its better to save your money and use ICs (orical fertility are the best) every pregnancy I have got lines on my ICs well before FERE.
