Default January / February IVF cycle buddies: Lucky 2013!

BT negative as I suspected . Will take a month off and then go for no 7! Maybe 7 is my lucky number...
Thanks so much for all your support it has helped knowing I am not going through this roller coaster alone.

    Hi ladies,

I really hope i can join you. I am soon to be doing my first FET as a surrogate for a friend of mine. I have never had any involvement in IVF before and would love to know more before transfer day.

Before i start asking any questions I want to make sure i am welcome here. I don't want to offend anyone so if there is a better place for me to go please let me know, I won't be offended.

I truely hope you all get your BFP's really soon.

    Richo.

I hate to say it Mrs ABR, but that anxiety stays for most of the pregnancy. We woman are worriers at the best times, but when it comes to us IVF'ers we take it to another level. In a previous thread someone said that it is because through this process we are exposed to so much and get so much knowledge, we are more aware of what can go wrong. That really stuck with me as a very astute comment.

Having said that there are literally thousands and thousands of posts on here where we worry throughout the pregnancy, and thousands and thousands of beautiful, healthy IVF babies!
    Hi Bedlover,

It's $366 from Genea for the additional bloods, then you do the ultrasounds through Sydney Ultrasound for Women, and each US under 12 weeks is $235 (with less than half back from Medicare). You aren't locked into do all scans (being 6, 8 and 10 weeks), you can opt for one or all.

And you are so right about the worrying part! I'm sure as women that we all do this to ourselves, but I imagine if I had been able to conceive straight from the get go, I'd probably be able to enjoy this time a little more than I am now! Each day I don't see AF is a blessing...so one day at a time.

Somewhat sadly amusing that IVF'ers count days and hours...as opposed to having little concept of time and only counting the weeks as they go by.

clucky and gstef, glad all went well with your EPU's!
Clucky, couldn't agree more. Can't recall where you are, but I'm with Genea Syd and they are amazing. The nurses and embryologist create such a caring environment.

And gstef, there is nothing wrong with 5 eggs (better than overstim and being cancelled!).

With my EPU I had 7 eggs, 2 were immature. Out of the 5 remaining, 3 fertilised.
Those 3 made it to 5 day transfer, with the best blastocyst being transferred (and sticking), and the other 2 ended up being disgarded as they weren't viable for freezing.

It only takes 1. I'm learning that this isn't a numbers game at all!

Hope you both get lots fertilised!

Hi Vetttc, I'm so sorry to hear about your sad news, ivf is such an emotional rollercoaster, and BFN after BFN can be really hard to cope with. I really feel for you, have been there myself :-( I agree with everything bedlover says, see a counsellor, I too haven't been coping very well with the emotions and have found counselling a little helpful. I'm about to sign up to do some yoga soon and thinking about acupuncture too, anything that can help me to be mentally stronger and to help us achieve the ultimate prize. My counsellor has put me onto a book called "When you're not expecting: an infertility survival guide", by Constance Hoenk Shapiro....I've just ordered it...maybe it might be helpful to you too?? Anyway I hope the wait till your next cycle goes quickly and that you are able to find many positive things in you're life to enjoy in the meantime xx
