Has anyone else had day 5 u/s to compare? Is this ok? Back in two days dr another and then once we reach the 10mm mark they are starting the antagonist injections.

I'm getting so nervous I don't want to be cancelled for any reason they are so frightened of me hyper stimulating as I grew we'll over 60 small follicles on 25mg Clomid and AMH in the 30's, relatively young age with PCOS an being a registered nurse and midwife I'm freaking out knowing what can go wrong!

Can anyone share similar experiences? Xx
Hi Bindy, my situation is slightly different but i thought I'd share. On my December antagonist cycle (my first ever), I was on 150 of Gonal F, and also Orgalutran. Although I don't have PCOS, I was hyper-responsive to the meds and my estrogen shot up straight away. My day 5 ultrasound showed 18 follies on my right and 12 on my left. I'm a radiographer and I was also freaking out at the ultrasounds, because I didn't want to hyperstimulate and have my cycle cancelled. My AMH is 13.4, and I have endo, so my FS thought there was a chance I wouldn't even respond, go figure!

To cut a long story short, they went through with EPU and got 15 eggs (not all of the follicles at ultrasound will have a suitable egg on collection day), my estrogen shot up to over 15,000 and they advised me not to have a transfer. Now at this point, I was really sh**ty about this, but I started to feel pretty sick and realized that my body was not ready for a transfer.

It was such a strange intro into IVF, to get sick and not be able to have a transfer. It pulled me down into thinking that this would never work for me. But once these feelings passed, I understood that they learn things about your body with each cycle, and maybe with my next stim, slow and steady may be the way to go.

I hope you have a good 2 days until your next ultrasound, keep us posted 😊

    Hi Beatrix,

Why did your E2 keep increasing after retrieval? Did the non-dominant follicles start to mature?

It is awful being in the medical field knowing what can go wrong.

I want this so badly as we all do and really don't want to be cancelled and tried again after a compulsory month off. I know this sounds silly but we live in the middle of nowhere, no help around and this month if it worked would mean I'd be due before harvest and I would have more help from my husband and family.

I would be blessed for it to happen at all, but timing wise this month would be perfect.

I have to drive 240km for my bloods and ultrasounds every second day and I am currently on night duty so no sleep for this broody hen!especially with the temperatures reaching 49.5 degrees at our farm this week!! Please let it be all of our months!!

Aww, Bindy I hear you! That is such a long long way to travel, and these appts are so repetitive you must be getting tired!

I should clarify and say that was my E2 at trigger, so it could have been higher after pickup. The explanation given to me by the clinic was that after pickup, fluid from the empty follies drain into the abdo cavity, but those same follies will keep making more hormones, so I was told to drink 3 litres of water every day in the hope of flushing the hormones out and avoid getting admitted. My tummy settled down after AF came, as they said it would.

I want this so much too, like all the ladies on here, I truly hope this is our year and we get to post our bfp's on here real soon!

Hi ivfforbaby, one thing i tried as my pco makes it hard for me to drop weight is accupuncture and chinese herbs. The lady told me to baaically go gluten free and she gave me these tablets to help my body digest the insulin etc. Ive since stopped this all due to financial reasons, but i can say the weight just seemed to drop off with no real effort on my half. Have you considered that?

Oops! I put gluten free which is what she wanted me on because i had a lot of weight to los, but she said all pcos ladies should be on a low gi diet because she said that pcos is a precurser to diatebes and if we want to fight it properly we should be watchibg our gi intake (due to insulin etc, she is not just a chines medicine specialist but also a gp so i figured she knew a bit of what she was talking about lol)

Ive tried all sorts in my fertility journey abd the chinese herbs are probably what made the most impact on my health in generel. Just not quite enough to ovulate on my own.

Hi to the new ladies! I don't have a lot of specific advice but you will find that all of this becomes normal very quickly -- including the injections! This is my second round and I feel like it's really routine already!!

Re: acronyms, I don't know there they're listed -- i just kind of picked them up using context and googled if I really couldn't figure them out (like with PUPO)!

My AMH is low -- 5.5 -- so I haven't had the OHSS concerns many of you have had. This cycle I only had 4 follicles on each side to start, same as last cycle. I was on a high dose of Gonal-f -- 375 -- and think it was the added Luveris that made the other follicles kick into gear this time around. Am feeling a bit sicker today than after last EPU though, so am taking advice and drinking lots of water!

Bindy, you are seriously committed to this process! Reading what you have to do just for scans and bloods makes me want to complain less about my own journey! Kudos to you!!

Now I'm sitting waiting for the lab to call and tell me how many of my 15 eggs fertilised overnight... C'mon team!!

Bettyw really hoping you get lots fertilize! Let us know!

Seriously, the injections are stressful first time round. I have no doubt that they will get easier as we go along though. Jilapril- they don't hurt at all so far. So don't worry about that. I am more afraid of just trying to get it right.

I did my first one at home this morning and I thought I messed it up. So I called the nurse, but she said it should all be fine. My husband didn't click down on the pen for 10- he clicked down quick and then held it in for about 10. I was told yesterday to click down for 10. But she said all is fine, just had to check the needle had gone down to 225 and it had. First round of injections is a little scary. I just don't want to get it wrong and then have everything cancelled.

We had a snake in our laundry this morning.. so it really got me on edge! Not a good way to start off the morning for my first injection at home. It was only a diamond python, but seriously, scary. I was trying to close the door to the laundry and it wouldn't shut... Couldn't work out why... so I looked up. A python was staring me in the face!! Although I didn't know it was a (very pretty) python until later. My husband was rushing out the door for work when I realised I had totally forgot about the injection!

Bindy that is amazing how much you have to go through to do IVF. Hats off to you. I was worried because I am afraid that around transfer time, my husband will be away on work stuff. But knowing what you have to go through, I am just going to be thankful that he can be there for most of my appointments. Really hoping its's all of our months too!
