Default Advice on mediation for DPs children...

So DP n I live in Victoria n his children live in QLD. He wants to start mediation to access his children as he has tried with BM but she always makes some excuse so they can't visit. We have always offered to pay for flights etc but then it never eventuates...
What is the first step for him to take and what type of arrangements should he be asking for? Does anyone have any experience with this?
DPs main worry is BM has more money then him therefore he feels disadvantaged already n so gives up before even starting. He's also really overwhelmed by process even intimidated by it even though it hasn't started (he thinks courts/mediation side with BM so what's the use?).
The children are of primary school age.

I had an interstate arrangement with my children.

You will need to contact a mediation centre like Relationships Australia and they will help you with the paperwork and requests etc

We didn't mediate we came to an agreement and got them turned into consent orders. All up this took about 6 months I think it was. Depending on how close to an agreement you are it can happen pretty quick. I would recommend getting whatever you mediate for turned into consent orders so they are enforceable by a court.

By the sound of your situation. I think mediation would be your best bet.
Once you have attempted that process and it proved unsuccessful. You are issued with a certificate which then allows you to go to court.
His ex doesn't sound very willing to make any arrangements.

I had to do mediation with my daughters father as she lives with him and wouldn't let me see her... Long story. Also did it with my DF's BM. But anyway yes it's an intimidating process but they won't side with BM, they are not allowed to. They have to look at wats best for the children, and that is spending time with BOTH parents. Stay positive x

Did DP give permission for them to leave your state?
