I'm guessing they're not using donor sperm

I have just completed 2 iui cycles (using DHs sperm). Cost was approx $1500, not sure what we get back at this stage. I had 1 cycle prior to starting IUI as a tracking cycle (to monitor what happens with levels etc) so it took me about 5 weeks to get started. I got my BFP on the 2nd cycle Good luck!

    Default iui questions?

    Hi rainbow zombies!

My partner and I have just had our first cycle at QFG in Brisbane. The costs are roughly:

    Initial consult: $230
    Initial ultrasound: $90
Total Medicare rebate was about $100

Then we had to pay a $500 registration fee to access donor sperm which also covered counseling and an appointment with the donor team and a nurse. No rebate for this.

Donor sperm is $950 for American sperm each time, also no rebate. There are Australians but often the sperm isn't good enough to use for iui.

Subsequent doctor consults are $105 with about $36 rebated
    Subsequent ultrascans $35 with a $29 rebate.

Insemination was $180 with no rebate and another $105 to see the doc again and $36 back. All blood tests are covered by Medicare.

That doesn't include costs of any medication as I did it completely naturally, but the nurses told me the meds are expensive. I was also told that each doctor has different fees so it may be different depending where you go. We compared the costs to other places such as city fertility and they were all about the same but I can't confirm as I haven't used them.

I had my first iui about 2 - 3 weeks after first visit.
That's all I can remember for now. Hope it helps.

    Default iui questions?

I had a hycosy scan to check my tubes for blockages - $530 ($100 rebate)

    Initial consult - $280

My $2680 I paid included the progesterone and trigger shot I had, but some clinics don't have meds included in their total.

Scans are to check everything is ok, the size of your follicle and lining ect to help them determine ovulation. Bloods are to check hormones to also determine ovulation. In my case anyway. There are other tests if there are issues but I don't know what they do.

they insert a catheter through your cervix, into your uterus and squirt it up.

IVF is a lot more expensive upfront, but you get a lot of money back!
