    Default First scan.

    Hi ladies,

im very confused and concerned with my scan I had yesterday, it was my first dating scan and what was seen was 2 sacs one empty apparently but I'm sure I seen a yoke in both and the other I seen a yoke and they said there was a fetal pole measuring 3.7mm they said to scan in 2 weeks as neither sac contained a viable pregnancy at this stage.

sac 1 measuring at 6 weeks with fetal pole
sac 2 measuring at 5-6 weeks and empty

about 3 hours after scan I gushed blood enough to fill 1 pad no clots and no cramping, the ED did bloods HCG was 42000+ and scan was the same as earlier that day.

should I be really worried about an impending miscarriage or has this happened to others and all was fine later?
    i thought I was between 6w3d and 7w

The bleed sounds like a subcrionic hematoma. good luck for your next scan

    Hi imadonorandiloveit
This sounds a little like me. DD2 was an IVF bub and I had a massage bleed just like you at 6 weeks. My blood tests were also as high as yours. I agree with Bokkie-wotwot as it sounds like a haematoma which is what I had and apparently is quite common (but scary!!) The only difference was I saw a hb on my scan but the doc said that was quite early. Hopefully you see a beautiful hb at your next scan. Although 2 weeks is a long time to wait. Is there a chance you can have your next scan in a week instead?

Well I had bloods done today and my level is over 52000 now and the dr says its quite normal and not to worry, as much as I'd love another scan this week I just done want to get disappointing results again so I'd rather leave it till when I know 100% that a heart beat will be detected, I also don't want to trigger the bleeding again.

the thing that has me stumped is why the scan last Friday was showing a week behind my dates, though I'm sure the women had no clue what she was doing.
