:-) Ideally I am wanting to continue with bachelor of nursing/midwifery but may decide to work for a while first. Will see what happens mid 2014 when I finish

    Hey,

How's everyone going? Are you back studying yet? I had my orientation today... Was so so boring.
We start our theory next Tuesday and follow that through for the next 10 weeks, with a morning of prac each week.
Then we go on a clinical placement for 4 weeks in an aged care facility. I don't think i'm going to enjoy that one.

Just bombing this thread- I purchased a stethoscope & blood pressure arm thing when I was doing my EN. If anyone would like it I can post it to them. I've used it once in class (back in 2007). They are pretty pricey

I quit before my prac. Throw me an inbox!

Biggest tip I wish someone told me when doing my EEN.. Dont let those old "been there done everything I know more than you why cant you do such and such yet stupid students.." types get you down. You are there to learn not just be an extra pair of hands and they forget that (or just dont care lol). Point is dont let them get the better of you

There is a way around doing aged care. We can apply to do all our prac at a ramsay private hospital. The only problem is they only take a limited number of people. It's probably still worth applying for though regardless of how little my chances are.

No, being a nurse is great!! I have epilepsy and had a seizure the place I did it wanted certification that I wouldn't have a seizure ever again? Ummmmm your health care professionals you know that's not possible! So I left I felt very uncomfortable. I have been accepted into my registered nursing now you will love this career & enjoy the experiences! Also just adding you will see much worse things than aged care doing nursing! I have been a carer since I was 15, I love it. I want to work with the elderly or with disabled. I mostly love the conversations you have with people!
