Hi all, Still waiting for my course to start! A good friend who is half way through her diploma has given me all of her notes and a copy of all of her handouts so far so I plan on doing my own study starting this week (as much as I can do on my own anyway). Hate that I have to wait until August to start.. It is deffinately testing my patience lol. I just want to check with everyone else here, apparently the EEN and EN are now merged? I've been told that an Endorsed EN is pretty much the same as an EN now as the meds criteria is now included in the Diploma of Nursing (EN) course, is this right? The same person was telling me that for EN's who did not do the meds criteria in their EN course need to do the extra modules (or whatever necessary) Again, was only told this so just thought I'd check to be sure. I have to call the tafe tomorrow and see if they have decided on a date for the information session on the course.. They said it should be some time in June. I just want to know already so I have something to look forward to rather than August lol

Yep all EN courses are endorsed now. You do medications as part of the diploma now.
If an EN isn't endorsed, they have that marked against their name on their ahpra registration.

I thought some of the TAFE's still had the Cert IV in Enrolled Nursing?

On another note I was thinking last night about how you could teach at TAFE after you had completed the Diploma and wondered if anyone else knew what would be involved to become qualified in that?

Wouldn't you have to be an RN to teach at TAFE? I know all my teachers are RNs.
Don't you usually have to do some study in education as well as the cert IV in training and assessment?

Plus all the teachers at tafe are still working as a nurse. I think it's something you need to get more experience on the field to teach.

It would be nice to find somewhere that has mid year intake as we could be moving later towards the end of the year and i've got no idea which area we will be going to. my eldest will also be starting school next year so to get him settled first would be something off my shoulders.
I'm at care training Australia in murrumbeena...so far pretty happy with everything....my course is two days a week and goes for two years. I chose to do my course through CTA because I also work and felt that 2 days schools and 3 shifts work was a good life/study/work balance that still gives me a income and I get two days off for my family.

I am half way through the course and am feeling more and more confident in my nursing skills each semester.

good luck where ever you choose to study, I have friends who have studied through holmesglen, Chisholm, navitas etc. and they all have positive and negative aspects.

Oh it is! The course is so full on! I wonder if it's this bad through other providers? Apparently it only gets worse frome here.

Oh buggar! We only have about 9 assessments and we got them all first week so weve had all semester. Also our exams we get and have a week to do them and hand them in so open book. Ive found our workload to be not so bad so far but then we do prac througout so i think that counts towards it, ie more prac less theory.

Getting all the assessments at the beginning of the semester seems logical. Shame my TAFE doesn't think so.
