I think its personal opinion mainly.

IMO No. I wouldnt ever buy a second hand seat. You dont know if the seat has been in an accident, or dropped, or compromised at all.

The only exception would be from a very close friend or family member that i knew had never been in an accident.

I would only buy second hand if it was from a trusted family member or friend, not a stranger off the Internet

The thing about second hand car seats is that you don't know the history of the item. It might have been in an accident (all infant car seats that have been in a collision should be destroyed so they can't be used again). You have no idea if its been in a collision and if the internal workings are intact and the belts not weakened or frayed.... I mean, I doubt someone would be so irresponsible as to attempt to sell a damaged or compromised seat but you never know. Is that a risk you are willing to take? Entirely your call, but maybe a new seat for 150$ is a safer option

I agree some people will and some wont. For me....I would only buy a second hand car seat from a close friend or relative that I trusted.

I wouldn't, no. Not for a newborn, baby or toddler... But I know people who have.

As the others have said, would not buy from a stranger on the Internet. I'd even be a little fussy about my family and close friends but I'm extra picky

I think it's a risk just not worth taking.

I would never buy a secondhand baby car seat. I've always been funny about it, but even moreso after I read this article just last week (about a possible inquest into the safety of secondhand car seats):

When I read the full article at the time, it stated they were going 110 kph on a 40kph bend.. who knows if it was the car seat, but I'd say the speed was the factor behind what happened.
