    Default Does Santa exist???

So DD has asked about this, she is very much in doubt but really really really wants to believe in the magic of it.

Especially this year as DS will probably like his presents this year, (as opposed to the wrapping/boxes) so she's really excited, so I didn't want to burst her bubble :/

What did you tell your children and at what age??

DD is 5 and has asked me numerous times lately if Santa is real. I usually turn it back on her and ask her what she thinks. I never actually say yes or no.

She asks questions like "how come we can't see him?" and I do tell her the old "he comes while you're asleep" and things like that, as I do think it is fun to believe in the magic of it. She's skeptical but still young enough to enjoy it I think.

    Default Does Santa exist???

We have no kids yet but plan on no Santa. We will be saying that in our house Christmas is a celebration of the year gone and a time about family.
We will be teaching our kids about different cultures beliefs around Santa and Christmas

I agree with PP - Santa is a fun part of childhood Christmases. I'm not religious but I do respect and appreciate the Christian significance of Christmas so I've already started teaching my 3yo about the Christmas story. I'm aiming for a happy medium, with a more over-arching sentiment of the importance of giving, sharing, being with friends and family and love.

But I'll definitely be letting my kids enjoy the fun and 'magic' of Santa Claus until they're old enough to work out the truth for themselves (or until a big kid spoils it for them...!). As for what to tell them once they start to get suspicious about the reality of Santa, I'll be reading the suggestions of more experienced parents!

    Default Does Santa exist???

It's nice to hear about the different ways we all do it and get some new ideas.

I've been all for the magic of it and also never really answer the question just turn it back to her- I'm just thinking maybe she's too big for it, And we should just say your right there's no Santa- but how awful before Xmas! And Santa already bought the pressies lol

    Default Does Santa exist???

When my brother was 5 he discovered the hidden santa pressies that my mother hid in the roof. He said he found them, my mother then made up another reason for them being there. When xmas came around, he saw that they were the same gifts, but still didnt work it out for another 2 years.!! He must have really wanted to believe he was real!

You know, the year my older brother found out there was no Santa (and promptly told me) - we STILL ran into our parents room on Christmas morning excitedly jumping up and down and telling them what Santa brought us. We knew that he didn't really bring them and that mum and dad already knew what was there, but got caught up in the excitement nonetheless.
