Default Paid parental leave and redundancy

I have the potential to receive a redundancy at the end of the year.

I have just started my govt paid parental leave. Does the redundancy affect the paid parental leave payments that will be paid by my employer?

    Thanks for your help.

No you will still receive it but after you cease employments then you will receive the payments from centrelink (or FAO) instead of them.

Hi, I work with the Department of Human Services in a team that responds to questions about Centrelink payments and services on social media sites like this. The income test for Parental Leave Pay is based on an individual adjusted taxable income of $150 000 or less in the financial year before the date of birth or adoption or date of claim, whichever is earlier‬. As it sounds like you are already receiving Parental Leave Pay you have already met the income test. A redundancy payment made to you this financial year should not affect your current entitlement to Parental Leave Pay.

Once you cease employment you will need to notify us as we will take over future payments from your employer.

More information about eligibility for Parental Leave Pay can be found here.

It is important to note that termination income may affect other payments including Family Tax Benefit, and you should contact us to discuss. You can contact us on the Families line on 136 150 (just after 8am is best to avoid wait times).

    All the best
