Default do you like having visitors at your house?

Depends who it is and when it is. Also if I have had time to clean the house or not! But generally yes because I don't get many visitors and it gets pretty lonely coz DH works a lot.

Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.
My mum is the only person I don't mind visiting. (she is also our land lord)

My hubby's patents have never visited (we've lived here 2 yrs) neither has his sister. They would if I invited them but I feel so uncomfortable. It's actually caused tension between me and sil cos she told me she feels unwelcome.
I am ashamed cos I don't work so I have alot of time to clean the house, but I ... Just don't! I hate cleaning. The house is messy and it's embarrassing to have ppl over.

and the small talk and being a host makes me anxious.

Most people I hate having round. They just make a mess. When my parents stay my father is very lazy and my mum annoys me. Im too busy to wait hand and foot on their every need. The exception is a good friend, she is considerate, I can relax around her and she doesn't make a mess.

I love it, but i rarely ever invite people because our place is so small. Eg, we have one family who we are friends with, they have one little boy, and 4 adults and 2 kids in our flat is really far too many people for the kids to be able to play. It's a shame and I feel bad because we always go to theirs.

It totally depends on the visitor. We don't usually get unannounced visitors, so most people that come around are invited. And if I don't like having them around, I just don't invite them lol. We pay a lot for our house, it's our private space and we work hard on it, I don't want it overrun with people who mess it up and take it over lol.

I find 2 hours is long enough for a visit, maybe 3, depends on the person.
We have a group around at least a couple of times a year, the kids birthdays, a Christmas party and maybe more. But kind of like a PP, when they leave we are buggered and vow not to do it again, not cos we don't like our friends but cos it's so much work!
And as for inter-staters and o/seas visitors, wow ain't that a struggle? I'm fine for 2-3 days but then my nerves start to fray a bit. It tends to be my family that come to stay, I love them dearly but I need a lot of alone time to keep my equilibrium. Just gotta such that one up though, otherwise I'd never see them.

I don't like entertaining. I don't mind making food for people, but I'd actually rather go to their house and cook for them there. I just feel less anxious and uncomfortable when I'm visiting other people rather than having them visit me.

Plus, I feel like I can leave when I've had enough, and am not trapped with them, wanting them to leave but them not getting the hint.

I particularly dislike children in my home. I never realise how well behaved DD is until I've been exposed to other kids. lol.
I thought I was an odd person for being like this, it is good to hear I'm not just being a snob which is what I believe my hubby thinks as he loves having people over. The worst Is trying to get rid of people who have overstayed. They just don't get hints!

I have a friend visiting for almost 3 weeks starting tonight. Honesty I love seeing my friends, but after awhile you get sick of not being able to walk around in your undies, be alone for 5 minutes or dtd lol.

As for drop in visits, I usually hate them, people tend to always turn up when the house is a mess, there's no milk in the fridge and I'm having a pj day.

Not really. Mainly because DD has destroyed the carpet in the living room and it looks absolutely filthy no matter what I do. If my house looked nice then I might not mind, although I get really stressed trying to get coffees and food and things served all at once.

No one really visits me though as I live a long way away from everyone I know.

I love having a select few over that tidy their mess and they're the best company...

But, so many mum friends let their little ones trash the house and walk around with food, not bothering to clean up after them. It really bugs me because I would NEVER do that at their houses, even if they said it was okay. I have rules for dd and they are in place everywhere we go.

Sometimes it can get hard with childless friends when I'm trying to get dd to go to bed, but they're learning and either sit out the back or tall quietly for a little while, so that's not much issue.
