Default Delightful December 2012 testing thread!

Temp should be done from CD1 and done as soon as you wake in the morning (I used to do mine as soon as I smashed my alarm in the morning). You will get a temp spike a day after you O. I tend to get slack and stop temping for the cycle after I know I have O'ed.

Hey GDYB, You're supposed to take your (basal body) temp with a BBT thermometer (digital to 2 decimal places required, cheap from ebay or available at pharmacies) every morning at the same time each day as soon as you wake up (before you get out of bed). Your temp should rise and stay elevated after O (due to progesterone) and is the definitive sign that you have ovulated (unlike OPKs that only predict that you probably will ovulate). After ovulation your temperature should stay up (if you're pregnant) or will fall the day before you get AF. If your temp stays high longer than your usual luteal phase you can be pretty sure you're pregnant. The FertilityFriend website has lots of info and it's free to join for 30 days and they send you 20 daily emails with fertility/charting lessons that are really informative and a great place to start if you're thinking about charting.

Hey Melruffles, sorry to hear about BF, hopefully he gets his sh*t together soon so you can get back to BD.

Just asked DH if he thinks I should start testing already and he said "why not!?" so I might cave and test tomorrow! It's probably too early so I'll try and hold out until Sunday or more likely I'll just use my IC! Wish me luck

    Congrats Bon0 & Keerah!
And anyone else I've missed who's gotten bfp in the last few days.
Work has been a bit insane this week.
My hpt line has continued to darken this week, in fact it was stronger than the control yesterday. Officially af is one day late so off to the docs today and actually starting to believe that I am utd!
So sorry for all those that received bfns. Fx January is your month x

I uploaded a pic of my chart as its pretty textbook. See how my temps are all lower than the red "baseline" and when it goes up it has stayed up over the line meaning i have ovulated and my body is producing progesterone which is needed to support pregnancy. I have a sharp temp dip today but I am hoping that is an implantation dip. The timing is right for it. I have a standard 28-29 day cycle.

jorjarene, that sux, hope you are feeling better, how long have you been ttc? hopefully next month is our month!

Arlais, fx your temp stays up! I'm sorry I cant help you with temps and changing enviro's. I know nothing about temping lol

princessleah, welcome back, hope you are well. How is your Mum going?

MadeWith, I am really hoping for my BFP on new years eve (if I can hold out that long to test) we also have a massive weekend of partys and catch up's with our nearest and dearest. That is the best thing about this time of year, although busy and sometimes stressful I truly love seeing so much of all our families and friends
good news with your temping, fx you caught that pesky egg!
Bon0000 and Keerah CONGRATULATIONS beautiful xmas BFP's

Noty, I think you need to test on Sunday with an ic, they never count, you are definitely right haha fx for you.

mel ruffles, sorry about af and that your bf is smoking again. It is such a hard habit to kick even 10 months down the track. I have quit for the past 4 or 5 years and I still sometimes wish i could have one
Don't give up though, you have done so well to loose all that weight, keep ttc and make it all worth while

mrsnv, great news about your BFP's getting darker. wishing you and bubs a happy and healthy 9 months

Mumsical, thanks for your chart and explanation, I finally think I understand this whole temping business!!!! I still don't think that I can commit to doing it myself though,

SORRY IF I MISSED ANYONE!!!! if I have i hope your baby making efforts are going great!

afm, I thought I o'd on Thu, but I now think I o'd Fri. well that is what my OPK's are indicating to me! BUT my cm is a bit all over the shop. **TMI** most of the week i have had lots of really wet and watery cm but it was not stretchy so not really ewcm, then this morning (when I think I o'd yesterday) it is very clearly very much ewcm!
either way i'm not 100% so will see if i can convince DH to dtd this arvo (if we can make time) although I think I have worn him out the past few days!! hopefully we get one more bd in but either way we definitely have a chance this cycle for a NYE BFP
    2ww, please go really fast!

    Thanks mrsLA,
I am struggling to stay positive after 6 months ttc. I quit smoking 2 years ago so I understand how hard it can be just annoyed that he doesn't have the same will power I have. Feel like I am doing all the hard work
Moving over to January thread. Good luck to those waiting to test and bfp's, to us with the bfn this month see you in January thread.
