    Default First blood test results

    Hi guys,

I had a dating scan on Thursday of last week that put me at 5 weeks 4 days. This is 9 days behind where I expected to be.

The ultrasound showed a gestational sac and a yolk sak. There was also a flicker that the technician said was the the beginning of a heartbeat but that it couldn't be accurately measured yet.

On the same day I had a blood test. I got the results back today and my HCG was 29,000.

I thought a heartbeat was supposed to be visible at 10,000 HCG...

I will take another blood test today to see if my HCG is still increasing.

Does these numbers so far match up with what was seen on the ultrasound? My doctor didn't seem concerned, just gave me a referral for another scan in 1.5 weeks. That's such a long time to wait!

    Thanks in advance

I've been googling even though I know I shouldn't, and now I'm concerned that my levels are indicative of Down Syndrome.

    Maybe it could be twins!

Try not to worry, I saw a story on tv about a young girl with down syndrome working as a teachers assistant and she's amazing. Hope your baby is well
