We spend between $50-100 per week normally, and that's for 2 adults and 1 toddler. It does depend on the situation though, DH is currently away for work and this week I spent $85 on groceries as I bought a lot of ready-to-steam meals from the fresh veggie section and a lot of our staples like shampoo, biscuits etc were on sale so I grabbed more than normal (which will hopefully mean next week's grocery shop will be closer to $50!).

How do you do a $50 shop a week for 2 adults and a toddler?? I spend easily that on fruit and veg for 4 people.

Oh my gosh, I need to know your secret to such a low grocery bill! We too would easily spend than that on f&v alone

We're about $300 f/n for 2 adults, fur baby & DD (who is only on f&v still). doesn't include DD's supplies such as nappies, wipes etc as we have a separate account for her needs

We spend about $200-$250 a f/n for 2 adults & one very spoilt dog. But then maybe another $50 on topping up fresh fruit/veg, milk & bread. Would love to get that down though.

$200-$250 a week for 2 adults, 2 3 year olds and 2 dogs. Can't get it any lower. Did reduce it by about $50 just by switching to Coles from Woolies though.

I cook a lot of home made meals, limit pre-packaged foods, and DD is at a daycare that provides all meals so we only really need to buy food for her on the weekends. Breakfast is normally weetbix, snacks are biscuits or fruit, lunch is either a sandwich or ham and salad, and dinner most nights is veggies and some type of meat, normally chicken.

Our basic weekly grocery list is:
    $6 milk
    $3 bread
    $2 1kg packet of chips
    $10 worth of chicken/meat
    $5 of frozen veggies
    $4 juice
    $5 ham
    $5 cereal
    $3 biscuits
    $5-10 fruit

Of course that is for a week where we don't need essentials like toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo etc. I aim for 1 week a month that our groceries are under $50 and those weeks I will try and make meals from things we already have at home (I tend to buy in bulk when theres a good deal so our pantry is always overflowing!). Most weeks we spend $75 and that covers everything we need.

Have to re-assess mine, the last 2 weeks have been $220!

DH works out and makes a lot of shakes with fruit and yoghurts etc.

    That is so true,
Chicken nuggets and chips for a family 7 under $5.
Chicken and salad for a family of 7 well over $15.

Very true. I can't believe the price of fruit and veg lately. It cost me $1.75 for ONE lime the other day. It's just insanity. Some families will have to work out whether they can afford to eat properly or pay their bills.
