Default Is a change table mattress cover necessary?

My change table mattress has a vinyl cover however I think this will be a bit cold for bub (even though it will be easy to keep clean!). I'm wondering whether you think it's worth buying / making a cover for it or just chucking a towel down on it and changing the towel every few days / when it gets dirty?

Guess it depends how wriggly your LO is. DS would always lay pretty still for changes so I just had a towel Id lay down when it was cold. If your LO is wriggly the towel might just become another annoying thing to control so a fitted cover might be better.

If you wanted to put a towel down its your call but its just extra washing really. I purposely chose a change mat with a plastic cover so that its easy to clean. I really wouldn't worry too much about the cold thing, it'll be fine.

I got the cover as it looks nice but put a towel or disposable change mat on top

A pillowcase works quite well too.

I use a towel.. Was given lots of baby towels that are quite rough to dry with so I use those and tuck them in around the mat, my DS is a bit of a wriggler and they seem to stay put

I made two covers and wash them regularly. I don't know how necessary it is but just seems nicer.

Jasper I didn't have one and sprayed & wiped with anti-bac having come from working in childcare lol

I think it's great to have covers as I have a very spewy baby and they stop the spew going everywhere. Also handy for poo explosions just take them off and chuck them in the wash! I got two in a pack at baby bunting for less than $20!
