    neither.
    Cos I'm a lazy sod

(well I do get out for a walk occasionally but it tends to be when I have the energy and Dh is around to watch the kids, so its really hit & miss)

Default Re: Do you exercise before or after a meal?

Any time except the hour after a huge meal. I have to exercise when I have time and can fit it in.

Default Do you exercise before or after a meal?

Before. I hit the gym at 5.30am & eat breakfast when I get home. I feel really lethargic & "heavy" if I work out after eating.

Default Do you exercise before or after a meal?

    Both.

    Why do you ask?

I always eat about an hour before vigorous exercise (usually something like oats, berries & almonds or eggs on toast)

And within 30min afterwards something high in protein.

    Why?

Before= so I have some fuel to fuel the workout.

After= to help rebuild/grow lean muscle.

I feel like I have more energy after a meal so usually after. I think its just psychological though. I think you are 'supposed' to wait an hour or 2 after eating for your meal to digest.

    This

But seriously, I think I would feel sick exercising after eating.

^^This is how it should be done. You need carbs or fat to fuel your workout which should be consumed 1 hour prior. Then a diet type meal an hour after finishing. (This also depends on what you are working towards of course - you would have this to build muscle and lose weight). A protein shake straight after your workout also helps to repair muscles.
