All the bills seem to come at once this time of year - rates, water, elec. I guess on the bright side that means a few months off from them over the holiday period. We have enough to cover everything but nothing for spare bits & pieces if you know what I mean; just trying to see the cup as half full and be grateful we can cover bills, eat well etc. Might have a little room to move around March '13 with no disasters between now and then. Only debt is mortgage, but that on one low wage is enough!

Is it bad that this makes me feel better?
We also are always struggling. Yesterday we needed some food at the shops but have $1.28 in the bank.
Luckily my inlaws came over and had a birthday card with a Coles myer voucher. That saved the day!

Why don't those getting paid monthly put the money in a separate account and pay yourself weekly or fortnightly from it? That's what we do when DH get paid in advance for a month. He work his family business, so when they go on holidays and aren't home to do his pay we get it in a lump sum for however many weeks they're going away. I then just transfer his fortnightly amount from our savings into our everyday account.

    Oh I hate that feeling.

I did a big stock up grocery shop yesterday and there's still 12 more days to this fortnight. Going to need to be cautious with what's left!

Dh and I have been there and the only way we got out of it was me returning to work full time. I do think the cost of living has risen ridiculously. In the last 6 years my mortgage has gone up $200 a week which hurts! Anyways, I'm just interested to hear.

Do you budget for all bills/ expenses each pay? That way when they come in the money is already there to pay them. We couldnt make ends meet if we didnt

Of course I do, otherwise I wouldn't have any money to pay for them!
We literally get paid enough to cover every bill, good quality food budget, mortgage + rent then maybe $50-$100 leeway on a good fortnight.
S'ok I'm happy with that so I can stay home with babies!
