    Default Is there any hope?

    Hi girls

    I'm posting for a friend.

At 7.5wks pregnant she had some bleeding on and off for a couple of hours. Red, then brown, then red. She went up to the dr's who did a scan and said the sac was empty and there was blood and clots around it. Showed her at 5wks3days. She went back the next day and the scan was the same. She had a blood test which showed a slight rise in hcg levels but the dr said it wasn't significant enough. She's got constant cramping but has had no more bleeding since that first bleed (on Sunday, now Friday).

It sounds very much like a m/c to me but she's still clinging to the hope that it might not be.

My question is this - has anyone had a bleed, then no bleeding for days and then still lost the baby. Is it normal to have this big gap of no bleeding? She just wants it over but is scared of having a d&c in case it's not really void.

Thanks for taking the time to read and share your thoughts.

I bled a lot through both of my pregnancies...so it does happen.

However, my concern would be the scan...2 weeks behind is a lot.

I would advise going for a 2nd scan next week to see if there has been any development or growth. If the scan shows the same, sadly, bub has not made it.

They should be able to see the embryo by now doesn't sound good that the sac is empty and blood around it but my fingers are crossed for her i hope a miracle happens!
Im going thru something similar at moment im 7wks1day and started bleeding on monday and still bleeding now, went to hospital on wednesday and scan showed embryo in the sac and no bleeding near it and it also has a heartbeat but it is rather slow so there is 50/50 chance all i can do is sit and wait but hoping for the best, i know exactly how your friend must be feeling i wish her all the best!

IT doesn't sound good. My story - spotting at 6 weeks, brown with not much. Scan by the GP at 7ish weeks couldn't see muc habdomoma;;u and had use transvaginal. Heartbeat was 90ish. I was still hopeful. About 6 days later, ?almost 8 weeks HR was 60 and bubs was measuring small. We waited. ANother week later I had bright bleeding. I never passed a lot. I had misoprostal at about 10weeks. Ended up havign retained products which was dicovered about 6 weeks after ( My HCG dropped but stayed around 100). It can take up to 6 weeks for HCG to return to 0, my levels were 50000ish so.I also had a scan which looked like everything was gone. Later on I had another scan and the tissue was a bit thick - so then had to have a d &C.
IT is such an awful time living in limbo land. You are a great friend finding this out for her. I know I relied heavily on my friends. I was numb and felt awful. I still had morning sickness which was terrible. There is nothing worse than still feeling sick and knowing your baby is non-viable. There is nothing yo ucan do to make it better, just hold her when she cries.

It does get easier with time. I have just passed the 'due date' of my angel. IT was tough and I have struggled. I never realised how emotionally hard a miscarriage is.

Thanks so much for your replies.

The hardest thing is that there's no bleeding. If there were bleeding she'd feel like it's happened/happening. But does the lack of bleeding mean everything might be okay?

With DD I had bleeding and cramping til 14 weeks. The cramping was so bad that I thought I was losing bub each time. It happened at 7ish then 9ish weeks then at 14 weeks I had a big bleed tht sent me off to hospital.

    And DD is here

Hi Expectant, sorry to hear about your friend. I didn't have any pain or bleeding with what was called a 'missed miscarriage'. I had an early scan at 6weeks where the heartbeat was seen and in the lower side of normal range. Had a followup scan at 8 weeks and there was no heartbeat. I was quite shocked as I really thought it was just a routine followup. I had some light cramps but if I had not have had a scan I would have assumed all was well.
I have had two previous miscarriages where there was pain and bleeding. I found with them it was a bit stop & start.
Unfortunately, there are so many variables which are different in each case.
Just ride it through with her, as difficult as that is.
Just be sure she has followup appointments with her doctor.
I found that no one has really been able to put my mind at ease, it just happens after a while.
