Default Progesterone support in a non-ivf pregnancy...

Thanks all!! I was wondering about what would result - as in the aftermath of the pessary - whether it was going to be unpleasant.. It made my entire underpants region really oily. I am going to get some liners tomorrow. Lol.

So... Up the back passage hey? And it is metabolized the same? And received by the body the same? I don't often get a chance to lie down for half an hour during the day. Especially not in the morning. The kids wake me up saying 'I'm hungry!' At 6am at the latest...

I've heard of the oil injection and oral pills but those weren't offered to me as choices, but I wouldn't say no to an oral pill instead.

Default Progesterone support in a non-ivf pregnancy...

They have done clinical testing of administration of progesterone for pregnancy maintanance and pessaries are the most effective, followed by injections and then tablets. It makes a little sense, as the ovaries are usually producing the progesterone, so the pessary is the closest approximation. The injections are inter muscular into the bum muscle usually, are in an oil base and quite painful. Pills easiest to use but least effective.
Looks like I will have to stick with the pessaries!
As to the up the back, I have heard others doing the same, and no one has ever said it didn't work, so if it is no problem for you it might me a good solution. I just set my alarm 1/2 hour early, and do it before I get up. You should try to be consistent with the time though. 12 hours apart, at the same time every day if you can.
    Good luck!!!

Oh, well I can't really get it 12 hours apart... This morning was at 6, and tonight's was 9... And that's pretty much the only times I'm going to be able to do it, really... I'm just sticking with the regular way... Better the devil you know

Default Progesterone support in a non-ivf pregnancy...

I've had two fertility specialists both tell me the back passage works just as well. God it's SO much easier. I was on four a day and work 12 hour shifts, so lying down wasn't an option. Worked for me, also for my sister.

Default Progesterone support in a non-ivf pregnancy...

Thank you I'm about to buy my next box... I haven't found many issues... About 40 times a day I wish I could have another blood test and see what the hormones are doing, but every dr I've seen has said not to repeat the tests being how inaccurate they've been for me so far this pregnancy. It will likely just cause more worry.

I get a scan in a week. Just trying to hold on until next Tuesday...

    Hurry up scan day!!!

Sorry to seem stalkerish but I see your location thingo on your post there says 'Central Qld'. Where are you heading for your scan? We were around Emerald with our third and had most of ours there, I can highly recommend a place!

I'm in Gladstone... Emerald is. Bit of a hike but I would have killed for a place that came recommended!! I'm having my scans at the hospital now, which is good, they seem to have good quality equipment there, and the tech is nice. I've only seen her once before for a miscarriage.

Ah it is HEHE. I have rellies in Gladstone and friend in Rocky but they have been out of the 'baby years' for a while now so not sure if they have any suggestions.

We now live six hours from Emerald but did seriously consider going there for our scans because the lady was just gorgeous. Takes a little of the fear out of it when you have a good feeling about the place and sonographer.

    Best of luck!!!

Yeah... I definitely agree. It's nice (and also not so nice) when you get to know the sonographer. (in my case, it was not so nice because I was going so often for miscarriages).

These 7 days are going ridiculously slow.
