Default How often does FOB contact?

DH and I separated 4wks ago tomorrow. So far he has been visiting DS on weekends and sometimes once during the week.

He hasn't sent a message to check on him since Sunday. This really upsets me because it makes me feel like he isn't even thinking about or missing him.

So....how often does your ex make contact to check on the kids when not with them? I'm just wondering if it's normal to go the week with no contact or not.

It could just be my emotions because this is all still so new and raw for me, it may just be me waiting by my phone for a message you know?? So I just want to know what's 'normal' in this situation so I can be better prepared.

Ds's father came over about 6 hours a week, he never called / text etc even when he knew ds was sick, if i wasn't texting him he would have had no idea

Never! Seriously don't stress over it, it will drive you insane!

The ex comes for dinner every Friday he gets 2 hours with them. He is taking them this weekend for the first time in months.

It used to bother me, now it doesn't. I'm not going to force his kids on to him.

I agree, i used to chase fob and get so upset and cranky, now I've decided if we split again i'll make contact only if ds is sick, other than that if he wants to be involved it's upto him to put in the effort

This ^ ^ except it is more like once a month.
I uses to message him about important events or when she is sick/after specialist appointments but he doesnt reply so I stopped that.

He sees the kids for one night a fortnight. He dosent speak to the kids other then that unless it is a special occasion and only then if I make the effort....

Never - I only really stopped caring after 4 years (slow learner) when my partner made a point to be there for ds and I through ds surgery and fob never showed. Never actually thought I would see that day, but that was the clincher for me. I no longer hold ANY expectations, saves time.

Thanks ladies. I guess I just need to get used to the new arrangements still, this seems normal behaviour then.

I just can't help but compare myself in the same situation. I would NEVER go days without checking on DS. I travelled with work last week and called twice a day and missed him like crazy (gone 3 days!). I get upset on his behalf that clearly dad doesn't miss him enough
