Default 3yr old cold and his nose

DS has woken up this morning with a cold. It's not bad just the sniffles. The problem is he keeps rubbing it with his hand even tho it's not running. Iv made him blow it and nothing came out. It's not running, but now it's red and angry. His not listening when I tell him to stop it. Then complains its hurting. I don't know what to do

Default 3yr old cold and his nose

Is he rubbing underneath or more at the tip? If its at the tip, it could be more of an allergy thing than a cold? My nose gets horribly itchy on bad hay fever days and it always feels itchy at the tip of my nose, as opposed to inside the nostril or sinus like with a cold.

If you suspect allergy, talk to a pharmacist as options depend in symptoms and age. For his nose, Vaseline or pawpaw would help sooth. Even lip balm if he will tolerate the smell better. Or just wait until he's asleep tonight and smear it in then, that's what my mum had to do for me!
