    How wonderful!

I can pretty much guarantee that that won't be the case here. The kids will have have had a great time (DH is a great Dad and a pretty much hands on Dad when he has the time) but the fridge and pantry will be empty and the house will be a disaster zone!

I do a bit of both - I stock the fridge/cupboards but only with what I'd normally shop for - so I'd do the market etc.I don't precook, or clean and only do what washing I'd normally do. I do leave a timetable of who needs to be where and when as that can be a bit tricky.

I stock the fridge and cupboards with all their favourites. Mainly because it means they can have more fun together and less crappy jobs like going to the supermarket.

I would clean but only the usual clean that I would do any day and it wouldn't matter if I didn't have time to.

DP can cook as well as I can and a lot of the time he makes use of time at home to clean or declutter.

I need him to go shopping with me anyway (I don't drive) so he knows how to do that as well.

I think the only thing I worry about when going away is discipline as we sometimes have different views.

No. We split all of that between us anyway (and have a cleaner). I wouldn't see a need to do it.

Oh really? You're having a weekend away too? Awesome!!

I'm going away this weekend, but my Mum is watching the boys for me because DP is still working. I will clean the house today (day off due to care issues) and if it's dirty before Friday (and it will be!) so be it. As for stocking the fridge- if DP and the boys were going to be home I would do, along with implicit instructions on what to cook and when (DP is no chef- sausages or hamburgers, anyone?) but really- he can look after them just as well as I can.. and my boys are pretty good foragers anyway- they can rustle up an apple or banana quicker than anyone I know!

I've only been away once for the weekend by myself, and I just left them to it. I figure - would my partner cook and clean if he went away? Probably not.

    have a great weekend away!

I don't do anything aside from the weeks worth of normal groceries and my everyday cleaning....I leave DH to cook/shop for his needs/clean...

Then again, we only have one child, so trips to the shop is easier than with four, so I can see why you would stock up, etc.

Cleaning though...meh...if they're going to make a mess then you will only have to clean it all again anyway...

    for a weekend away!!!

Personally I always leave the house sorted purely because I'm a little obsessive like that even when I'm heading to to town for the day, I can't bare to come home to things out of place (DH just shakes his head at me as I rush around in my usual OCD manner nowadays). There will be food in the fridge and cupboard like any other weekend but I'm lucky because he's very hands on and won't have any problems cooking and keeping the kids in their routines.

Downside of this though is he totally misses the idea of keeping on the kids untidy-ness so I know I'll come home to a bombsite. BUT I'll be happy and the kids will have enjoyed the time with Dad so I can't complain, not as if they'll be drawing on the ceiling or pulling the carpet up, I hope .

Enjoy your weekend and I'm sure they'll all survive!

    Sam
