Default CVS / Amnio advice & experiences

I had an amnio with my twins after my daughters genetic condition meant she was born sleeping. It was fine. A little uncomfortable but no big deal. I took the day of the procedure and the next 2 days off work and just sat on the sofa and ate chocolate. The worst part is the wait: I didn't bother with the FISH as this doesn't show up all genetic abnormalities.

thanks I had my cvs today and it wasn't as bad as I thought. felt like the baby was scratching my uterus lol

really pleased to see the baby floating around and waving. heartbeat looked & sounded great

taking it easy now, really wiped out from today. results in 3 weeks max, hopefully before Christmas!

had an update from my genetic counsellor.. it looks like they've taken more sample of me, than the cv.

will find out by next Tuesday, might need to do it again. not sure how I feel about doing it for a second time, not scared of the procedure but increasing the risk again

she called again & said look into having an nt scan and maybe an amnio next month if I'm still worried...

luckily I was able to call around and book in for a my scan on Monday, happy to do something less invasive while they try & see what they can grow from the sample. wasn't a fan of having a second cvs in the same fortnight :/

    just updating my own thread

no results could be cultured from my cvs, they didn't get any sample from the cv which is VERY unusual.

nt blood & scan results came back low risk however because the genetic disorder we're worried about cant be picked up by the nt bloods, I have decided to have the amnio this Friday

it wasn't an easy decision but I feel like it's the best decision for us x
