Default Scared - Bleeding in early pregnancy - has this happened to anyone else?

I just experienced a bleed yesterday (sunday) I'm 5+3 weeks today. DH took me to the hospital and I had a scan, no heartbeat yet, however both the gestational and yolk sac were visible, which the sonographer said was great. I'd had a scan at my FS office on Friday due to some left hand side pain and we saw a tiny sac then too, the sac was a little bigger yesterday and in the same position, my cervix was tightly sealed. My FS has increased my progesterone support (1200mg pessaries and 10 provera per day) and has put me on bed rest and a drug to help stop bleeding. I'm just hoping its a peri sac bleed. I had no cramping while bleeding but I'm crampy today. The bleeding has stopped now. I soaked a panty liner but haven't soaked any other pads, so don't think it was a huge amount of blood. I have been cramping since EPU and my 2 betas came back really high (665 and 2925) which has exacerbated my ovarian hyperstimulation (19 eggs collected). If I hadn't had the bleed, the cramping would be of no concern to me. At my scan yesterday, both my ovaries are still really enlarged. It's my first BFP and I'm just scared. I have another scan on Wednesday with my FS. I was hoping to hear from other women who may have experienced something like this. Thanks xo

    Hi KandP

I too had bright red bleeding on and off from about 4.5 weeks till 6.3 weeks with very mild cramping. I had a emergency scan on 6 weeks 1 day and seen a lovely heart beat. Had another scan at 6 weeks 5 days and going strong still. I'm about 7 weeks now and no further bleeding... touch wood. It was very scary and expected the worst but so far so good.
People say bleeding can be common but till it happpens to you it's very scary.

Please try not to google as it done my head in reading good and bad stories.

    Good luck for wednesday.

Default Re: Bleeding in early pregnancy

Thank you so much for your reply, my bleeding had some bright red, but then became Brown and with my medication has almost entirely stopped. I'm still cramping but its settled mostly and as I said, I've been cramping since a few days after EPU (from the hyerstim). I'll only be 5.5 weeks on Wednesday so don't expect to see much, I'll just be happy to see a bigger sac

    Thanks again xx

    Hi k&p

i also had bleeding on and off from week 5 through to week 10 or 11. It stopped completely after that. They think I had a small internal tear in my uterus which was causing the bleeding.

I hope it all clears up for u soon
