Default Early Scan Shows Baby Smaller Than Expected...

I found out a few weeks ago that I am pregnant for the fourth time. I lost my first pregnancy at 6w6d, and my second and third at 5w. After some tests my doctor informed me that I had anti cardiopolin antibodies and advised me to start taking asprin. I have been doing so for 6 months and have been feeling really good about this pregnancy. According to my LMP, i should have been 6w5d today when I went for my first scan, but according to the measurements taken, I am only 5w4d. I know I have not got the dates wrong because we have been monitoring my period for 6+ months, so now I am very worried. The doctor told me I should go back in 10 days for another scan to make sure baby is still growing (not a huge confidence builder.)

Is there anyone out there who has been through something similar? Just want to hear what I might be in for....

Default Early Scan Shows Baby Smaller Than Expected...

I had the same thing with my last pregnancy. I was sure of my dates but at the first u/s they put me back a wk. The doc said I must have ovulated late even though I was sure I didn't. I went on to have healthy twins. Please try not to worry too much, easier said then done I know!

A tiny difference in measurement (eg. 1mm) can make a few days difference. Add to that the fact that sperm can survive for 5 days, so even if you know when you DTD there's no guarentee the baby was conceived that day. Add those 2 things together and it can easily be a week out, especially at such an early stage.

My dd measured 3 days smaller than I expected at my first scan - I thought I was 7 weeks 3 days, but was told I was 7 weeks. I got a BFP at 9dpo by my calculations, so I was worried I had twins, but I didn't

thank you so much ladies. I feel so much better already!

So when looking at my due date should I base it on the scan, or my LMP???

    Hi Ladies.
Just wanted to let you all know that I went for my follow up scan today and the doctor said everything loos perfect. Little Jelly Bean is only measuring 3 days behind rather than 8, so the doctor has told me to go off my LMP date. That puts me at 8 weeks today and gives us our first viable pregnancy!!

I just want to say thank you to you all for your kind words and advice. This forum has really helped me through some hard times, and it is so good to know there are so many lovely women out there looking out for me.
