A friend of mine is having a baby shower in a few weeks. This is her second child, but there is a 9yr age gap between children. She said if we insist on bringing a gift (which I do) to make it a book of some sort...she also said it doesnt need to be a baby book, just a book for a child of any age.
I was thinking of getting a couple of books that I loved when I was little (Hungry Caterpillar, Possum Magic, Soup From A Stone etc.) but dont want to get any that are too mainstream as she might get a few copies of it.
SO, Ive thought that for one book I will get Dr Seuss 'My Book About Me' ...I still have mine that I filled in when I was 5 and I think its adorable to look back on.
Does anyone have an other recommendations of great 'classic' books that arent too mainstream? I dont want any that are too grown up as Id like her to be able to use them soonish. Looking at spending about $40 all up for a few books...EBAY!
Also, does anyone else think this is a good idea or does someone have a better idea for a gift?
