    Default Jaundice in newborns

DD is 5 days old and I was told that shes got mild jaundice and that i should feed her frequently.
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
How long does the condition last and is it suppose to make her extremely sleepy? She sleeps a LOT and is only up for feeds if she stays awake for that! She hardly opens her eyes !

Ds had it. Natural light and the sunshine will help too.
Yes, it does make them sleepy. I think his lasted about 1 to 2 weeks.

Yes DS had it. He looked like he had a seriously bad fake tan for a few weeks and then it started to fade. Same as you OP, I was told to feed lots and sunlight when possible. I don't remember him being more sleepy, but newborns are supposed to sleep for between 16 & 20 hours per day anyway.

DD had it, we were in hospital for an extra two days while she 'baked' in the blue light capsule, she was a premie tho... She had it mildly when we came home and they told us to expose her to lots of natural sunlight... through a window is fine feed frequently, and yes it makes them sleepy.
It cleared at around week 2.
