I would love to hear any examples of this having happened. I find it interesting that a father taking more care of their child is considered 'being nasty'! I sincerely doubt that there are many men who are silly enough to think that paying $100 or whatever a week is more bothersome than caring for a child, in terms of cost and inconvenience. I've been begging FOB to take an interest for more than four years now; I'd pay HIM to do so!

No, not nasty to want to take care of your child. But to want to have a higher number of overnight visits just to drop your CS rate, yes, it has happened unfortunately!

Child support is not linked access; paying it, or not paying it, does not give a parent any more parental responsibility than they already have. It makes no difference whatsoever to whether they have access. How much CS they pay does vary, but much less than you would think. If access is supervised or not is also nothing to do with financial arrangements. And CS is payable by both parents, not just fathers. So women may end up paying men, if they earn more, depending on where the children spend their time.
Why? Because sometimes the mother is sleeping around. The guy doesn't know that. And yes I do know a case of someone (close friend of mine) who really didn't know who the father was. It's not fair that they have to just accept that they're the father or pay the money to disprove it. It should be split. Simple and easiest way possible.

Why should a woman who hasn't been sleeping around pay to be humiliated, and have her baby swabbed, because a man is refusing to accept his responsibility? It is a very unpleasant experience, and an accusation which is insulting. Making a woman pay for that insult is most unfair. We already have to take on the risks and expenses of pregnancy and childbirth. The $600 or so of a parentage test is frankly nothing compared to the costs of pregnancy alone.

You only have to read a certain other forum that shall remain nameless to see many men encouraging others to go for as much access as possible for a better financial settlement, to cut CS down, and to 'pay back ex for leaving' (their wordsmith not mine). I have seen at least one brag about getting larger portion of house due to % care of children and as soon as it was finalised, he wiped his hands of them.

Big hugs Hun I've been in a similar situation

I went to legal aid for assistance to get DNA and to get help to claim CS. Sperm donor (nicknamed the girls and I use) dragged his feet and always left everything til the last minute but when my DD was 3 months old it was sorted. To this day he says she isn't his, the only reason he paid the $600 for the test was because he hoped it came back that I was lying. He was the one spreading the love not me. My daughter has 5 siblings one who is only 4 months older than her
He never threatened us or anything like that but I've made sure he doesn't know where I live as a safety pracaution.

It is your daughters right to claim child support so I wish you the best of luck. I hope it doesn't come back to bite you on the ar*e
