Default Vanuatu - Great or not so great?

Husband wants us to go to Vanuatu with our 5 kids and I'm not so sure. If you went, did you love it, or not? If so why? I also want to know why you DIDN'T like it? Le Lagon is the resort....

Le lagon is really nice, beautiful pool and setting... Vanuatu itself was, ok i guess... There are good things and bad... Roads are horrible! Food anywhere other than the resort wasn't my cup of tea, but there are some really beautiful spots around to visit, but some really dirty smelly places too. The people are lovely, and adore children especially at the resort. Happy to answer any questions you've got...

Thank you for the answer. I suppose I mainly want to know if the kids would enjoy it. My eldest is almost 13 and wasn't overly fussed on going to a "kid's club". The others are 10, 7, 5 and 3. I'm actually leaning more toward a p & o cruise which stops at Vanuatu, as I think the excitement of being on a big ship would be a great experience, but hubby doesn't want to wait that long (next year). We would also have to take eldest out of high school but I don't think that's a big deal (for one week) but dh seems to think it's too disruptive

The cruise and Vanuatu alone look to be around the same cost.

I have just got back from a P.O. cruise that visited Vila. It wa d interesting. Definitely a developing country. W e Had a fantastic time on the cruise. We had a suite so not sure if that helped.

I went for a week and loved it! So much to do! (it was just dh & I but there were lots of families with kids that we saw)

Also, fwiw, I'm a high school teacher and missing a week is no issue from a teacher's perspective unless it's yr 11/12 - I say pull your eldest out of school and go

Thanks everyone for the replies. Well, we've decided to go with a Carnival Cruise! Yahoo! It leaves from Sydney, and has a waterpark on board and just sounds fabulous. We're going on the one that goes to Noumea, Isle of Pines - next year, during school hols, so all we have to do it wait now. The kids are very excited. So am I. I'm looking forward to a bit of time with hubby too - the kids look to be well catered for, which is just what I"m looking for. Time for us all to have fun.
